fukube satoshi
"Well done! Who knew
Yasu-san's guess was spot
on!"

'Yasu-san...? That's new.'

ibara mayaka
"How the hell did you even
figure that out...? You're
weird, Yasukawa-chan."

'I literally just explained it to
you...'

"What are you talking about?
There's no one more average
than me. Well, maybe Oreki."

oreki houtarou
"Well, you're not wrong."

fukube satoshi
"Well, I wonder about that."

chitanda eru
"You surprised me though,
I'm curious what's going on
in that head of yours,
Yasukawa-san."

fukube satoshi
"Curious?"

chitanda eru
"Yeah, I feel like I want to
open it up and take a peek
inside. Yours too Oreki-san!"

"The tiny me in my brain is
probably sleeping. There's
nothing really special."

oreki houtarou
"What she said. It's nothing
compared to the school's
honor student."

ibara mayaka
"Eh? You're an honor
student?"

fukube satoshi
"That's right! We haven't
had our midterms yet, but
she'll definitely take the top
spot!"

chitanda eru
"No... Even if my grades are
good, it means I understand
how the parts work. But I'm
not interested in the parts, I
want to know how it all
works as a system."

'Hah... Well, that's one way
to put it.'

chitanda eru
"Oreki-san and
Yasukawa-san might be able
to..."

oreki & satsuki
"Hmm?"

chitanda eru
"Huh? Nothing, It's
nothing..."

fukube satoshi
"Well regardless, that was
quite a fun way to pass the
time."

chitanda eru
"I agree!"

ibara mayaka
"I spent all that time and still
couldn't figure it out... That
bothers me a lot!"

"Well, you could've asked the
girls themselves if you
noticed it."

fukube satoshi
"She does have a point..."

ibara mayaka
"I can't just ask someone
why they borrow a book."

fukube satoshi
"As I said before, right?
They're useful every now and
then."

"Don't make us sound like
tools."

ibara mayaka
"I can't stand losing to Oreki,
though!"

oreki houtarou
"Why am I being thrown into
the mix? Yasukawa-san was
the one who figured it out."

ibara mayaka
"But you figured it out too!"

'Something feels...off. They're
different... I can't be like
them.'

‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Satsuki sighed and turned to leave but Oreki stopped her by pulling her uniform by the shoulder.

"Hmm?"

oreki houtarou
"We're not done here."

"What?- Oh right...
Anthologies. You know we
could've sneaked out or
something."

oreki houtarou
"You can't just leave me
here with them."

"Right..."

librarian
"Ibara-san! Good work, you
can go home now."

‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Speak of the devil, the librarian is finally here.

fukube satoshi
"Sensei, I'm Fukube Satoshi
from the Classics Club. We're
looking for a back issue for
the anthology we're making.
Would you mind if we took a
look in the archives?"

librarian
"The Classics Club...? The
anthology? You're in the
Classics Club?"

‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Satsuki glanced at Oreki to see that he seemed to some extent surprised at her reaction. Satsuki suspects that the librarian had some kind of connection to the Classics Club in previous years.

librarian
"I see... I'm afraid that there
aren't any back issues of the
anthology in the archives."

fukube satoshi
"Are you sure you didn't
see them?"

librarian
"I'd remember if they were
there. Well... I have to go
now."

fukube satoshi
"Sorry for the inconvenience
caused."

"Well, that was kinda a waste
of time."

oreki houtarou
"I'm sure we'll find them
at some point."

'I might just ask my brother
if he has any copies.'

‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Soon enough everyone now was walking home.

"Oh right, Oreki-san. I have
to go run errands, so you can
walk home without me."

oreki houtarou
"Errands?"

"Yeah... Just some grocery
shopping and seeing new
stuff at the mall. My brother
is going to be home late, so
I'll be alone in the house."

oreki houtarou
"Oh okay then, See you on
Monday."

‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎He turned and walked in the opposite direction with his hands in his pockets. Satsuki just stood there, kind of shocked but at the same time, she expected that he would say that response.

"Right, See you."

'Why was I expecting him to
go with me...'

‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎She walked towards the way of the mall with her hands in the pockets of her oversized sweater, sighing for the nth time.

'Why was I even thinking
about that.'
