"Hey- Remind me that I owe you a drink next time."
Acacia exit the bar groggily and drunk. She was stumbling over the dirt and rocks that covered the small building, along with a few abandoned houses. Attempting to make her way to her motorcycle, she hopped on and gripped the handlebars tightly. She knew she shouldn't have been driving at the time because of her state, but there were no bus stops around.
The loud rumbling noise of her motorcycle filled the parking lot as a few people looked over to see what the noise was. Acacia rode off onto the actual street, checking her surroundings. It was about three in the morning in New York. She stayed at the bar later than usual, but that was only because Beck had convinced her to.
The wind ran through her hair as she sped up. The blasting of the music from her stereo calmed her down since she panicked about how she would drive considering she's drunk. The cars speeding by her and slowing down added to the wind, and she never felt more free. She hadn't felt this good in a while.
"Ah- What the fuck?"
Her vision started to get blurry. The noise of her motorcycle and the cars began to fade out, so she drove faster in order to find somewhere to take a break. Eventually she slowed down and turned into one of the abandoned buildings on the side of the rode. She looked at the building as she parked her motorcycle on the side of the wall. It was obviously pretty dusty and old as the windows were broken and most of the paint chipped off. As she walked inside, her hand immediately covered her nose.
The building was covered with the scent of alcohol and drugs. Her nose scrunched as she took in the scent, even with her hand covering it. Acacia drunkenly walked to an old couch and sat down, getting used to the scent. Her hands covered her face while her head was pounding.
"Hey."
Acacia suddenly looked up. The voice she heard was weirdly echo-ish, but soothing. She looked around but didn't see anybody. All she saw was a glowing figure in the distance, but she thought nothing of it. She assumed it was her mind playing tricks on her because she was drunk. Her hands covered her face again, and she closed her eyes trying to get rid of her headache.
She then felt a tap on her shoulder.
"Ah!"
Acacia turned around to see a pale looking girl, staring at her. Her cheeks turned a bit red as she examined the girl's appearance. She had dark black hair with the front part of her hair dyed a light-ish pink. She had brown eyes and a freckled face, with freckles along her shoulders and arms. Acacia then realized that the girl was floating, and she immediately got up to stand.
The girl found this hilarious, letting out a light chuckle. She slowly floated towards her, hands behind her back.
"You're a sensitive one, aren't you?"
"Wh- No I'm not!"
Her cheeks turned even more red from embarrassment, but she went a bit pale still shocked from what she was seeing. Her hands started to lightly tremble, and her words were slurred.
"What are you?"
"Well you're a bit rude, didn't even bother to ask my name."
She crossed her arms and formed a small smirk.
"I'm a ghost, am I not?"
The girl's glow faded as she stopped floating to stand on the ground. She wobbled a bit, assuming that it's because she'd been floating most of the time.
Acacia didn't know how to take this. Ghosts weren't real, this was just her mind being stupid.
"You're not a ghost. That's bullshit- I'm drunk and I'm just seeing things."
She then cleared her throat before speaking again.
"What's your name?"
"Ouch. That kinda hurt."
She gave Acacia a light smile before responding again.
"I'm Vega."
Vega put out her hand for Acacia to shake. She was hesitant, but shook her hand anyway. She shivered at the cold feeling she felt when doing so.
"Now what's yours, cutie?"
Acacia got flustered from the sudden pet name, but responded with a monotone tone.
"I'm Acacia. What are you doing here? If you're a ghost shouldn't you be in the afterlife or something?"
She still wasn't convinced.
"Yeah, like that's even a thing. I died here so I stay here. Although, there's a limit to how far I can go, sadly."
Vega sighed and twirled her hair. She honestly didn't think she'd see anyone in a while, as the building had a sign that said "No Trespassing."
"Then how could you touch me? It was probably just the wind."
Of course she was still in denial about the whole thing. She was pretty sure another person would have the same reaction.
"Oh, like this?"
Vega got closer to Acacia and gently grabbed her chin, bringing her face down towards hers. Acacia got flustered as her heart started to pound, then Vega flicked her forehead with her other hand.
"Ouch!"
The laughter from the ghost filled the big room they were in, echoing all over.
"And if you still don't believe me, I can phase through objects if I want to."
The glow that originally surrounded Vega came back, and she phased through the couch. Acacia was shocked by this. She rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn't just seeing things.
"God, this is too much to take in."
She pulled out her phone to check the time, her eyes growing in the process.
"Look, Vega. It was nice meeting you. But I still think it's because I'm drunk. I'm leaving."
Acacia left and made her way to her motorcycle, the loud rumble coming back again.
Vega was just left there to her own thoughts.
As Acacia entered her apartment, she threw her keys onto the counter and immediately flopped onto her bed. She grabbed one of her pillows hugging it tightly, trying to process what just happened. She fell asleep on the right side of her bed, only taking a few minutes to do so. It was a fun and rough night for her, so of course she would be tired.
But she then felt her blanket move on the left side of her bed, and smelled a faint scent of alcohol and perfume.
