Tonight was just another restless night per usual for me, the bags under my eyes seeming to multiply by the hour in which I didn't sleep. My back is killing me from hunching over my laptop screen and the energy drink to the right of me didn't really help my tired body. Rubbing my aching back a bit, I silently closed my laptop, 7 am already, just great.
My sleep schedule has been messed up permanently ever since high school ended and I haven't been able to successfully recover at all. Even taking melatonin kinda flops for me sometimes, I've honestly been considering horse tranquilizers at this point.
With a slump, I walked over to my room so I could finally toss myself into bed, with a few final stretches I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Waves of sleepiness did not take long to kick in and slowly my consciousness began to fade.
Warm, why is it so warm all of the sudden?
Fuck it's not just warm, I'm sweating for some reason, and what happened to my bed? I'm in the sand... My eyes darted open and my pupils were met with scorching hot rays and now I began to feel the burning pale grains beneath me.
"What the fuck?" So first of all, waking up in the middle of some beach is weird already because I don't live anywhere near one. Secondly, my clothes are worn as hell and I have nothing in my pockets at all. Harsh beams blinded me with the littlest peeps from my eyes and I tried my best to take in my surroundings.
Some cacti and tumbleweeds were around, sure, but not really any people. For some reason, hens were around but what really caught my attention was the slow setting of the sun. Time must've really slipped my fingers, and the realization that I have become stranded began to set in. I tried my best not to cry but the tears from my eyes just wanted out.
Walking for a few hours since I woke up has been tiring, so after I finished my mini cry session I decided to take off my shoes and dangle my feet in the nice, cold water. The cool clear liquid sloshed around as I gently kicked back and forth, looking out into the sea I began to zone out.
Questions began to flood my mind, where am I going to sleep tonight, and how am I going to get something to eat? Deserts aren't really known for their crop abundance, and nearly all cacti are bad for consumption unless I want diarrhea. That's when I felt a tug, a sloppy wet and heavy tug at my ankle.
At that moment I froze up, there weren't any people here for hours and now I'm feeling a hand-. Gurgles sounded from beneath me, edging me to look at who or what was grabbing me, I knew I should run but my exhaustion and shock paralyzed me. "Hey, grrglsh.. you there."
Slowly lowering my head, my eyes stared down to see a strange-looking man who glowed with bluish skin. The spongy texture of his grasp made more sense since he straight up looked like a drowned corpse.
" Oh, h-hey." Well to be quite honest I would be in more disbelief if it weren't for his exposed head injury and convincingly glowing orifices. My physical stats are piss poor so if I'm dead tonight it's going to be very obvious why. However, the guy shifted a bit and pulled himself further up, with my leg.
"You should probably find somegh..rwhere to hide human, not everyone is fond of human's ghrrg." His slow speech was intimidating but he hasn't hurt me or anything so this is going to be the best chance I get to maybe not die. "Do you think you can help me find a decent place to hide? As far as I know, it feels like sand and more sand for miles." The man gurgled and looked around before speaking up again.
" Stay out of the water at night, and stay out of caves. There's less ocean over there as far as I know, but beware, there are more creatures to come up at night wherever you go."
After he said that he let go of my leg and sank deep into the ocean, leaving behind the faint glow of his eyes and mouth.
Great, well I guess getting away from the water is a first, If someone like him is telling me to stay out he probably has a good reason to. I pat my shorts and made my way to a direction I haven't gone in, hopefully, it's more promising than sand this time.
Shifting my way through the mounds of sand with legs still sore, the night sky was now fully out on display. Many stars glittered above and complimented the crescent moon, maybe I'll be able to see how pretty this sight is for more days to come.
After walking for a while I squinted my eyes when I noticed some movement ahead of me, on the bright side there were many trees and grass. However, my stomach sank when noticing more humanoid monsters, plenty enough to give me a beating.
Actually, if my eyes were correct, quite a few of them carried weapons so there's that to worry about as well. Maybe they won't be so bad, I mean just because they look scary doesn't mean they're going to kill me right?
I slowly walked toward the group and one of them glanced in my direction immediately, similar to the last man I saw except it was very obvious that he was a zombie. As silly as that sounds, but hey it gets weirder because there's literally an Arachne and skeleton standing next to him.
The dark-haired Arachne glared heavily at me and frantically shook his head as if to shoo me away. "What's wrong dude why are you shaking your head so much?' Some other things were said but I couldn't really make them out from this far away. Before I could take another step a hissing sound crept up behind me.
When I turned to see what it was, it scared me so bad that I screamed. A green person covered in moss looked at me with a frown and began to shift, it looked angry.
He had no arms to grab me thankfully, so I decided to cut my losses and hope that these other monsters were kind enough to protect me from whatever this thing is.
Swallowing my pride and taking in a huge gulp of confidence, I shot my hands up into the air defensively and just ran towards them, leaving the other monster in the dust.
Out of breath and gasping for air, the three of them just stared at me mostly in confusion, sharing glances trying to decipher what to make of this situation. After all, it's not every day that a random person just comes screaming towards you out of nowhere.
"Gah- heyyy guys what's up, I know we just met but can we please be friends right now, that moss guy scares me really bad and you all seem nice enough."
The Arachne and skeleton looked at each other and back at me, not really sure what to do, the zombie, however, just stared at me and began drooling.
A sigh came from the skeleton, pushing back some of her silver locks, and she began to reach for an arrow from her back. "We don't really like humans so why should we?'
