recently life hasn't been too great.
you see, my mother recently passed away. we found out that she had stage three cancer a couple of months ago, ever since my life has consisted of me sleeping in hospital rooms and days accompanying her.
Now here I am in my room packing for my flight tomorrow to japan. my father has noticed my declining mental state and decided it would be best if I were to move to Japan with my grandfather (mother's father). I used to live in Japan when I was younger and spent a lot of time with him and my childhood friends.
I'm honestly glad that I'm moving back to Japan since I haven't seen my ojichan in forever. I would like a fresh start and a new setting. I'm excited to move to japan because me and my mother used to travel there all the time when I was younger to visit her relatives. I think it will be fun to remember the fun times I had with my mother there rather than all the sad ones I have here.
"(y/n) are you all packed?!?" my father yells from downstairs. "yeah dad I'll be down there in a sec!" I yell back. I grab my purse and phone and take one last look at my empty room before heading downstairs. Once I'm downstairs I head outside to the car with my dad, I hop in the passenger seat and put on my seat belt before my dad starts the car and heads off.
Me and my father have never been close because he was always at work, so I spent most of my time with my mom. The ride was a comfortable silence as I glanced out the window watching the other cars pass. Once we arrive at LAX I get out of the car while my dad grabs my luggage. We walk in the airport and go through all the security until we get to the boarding gates. I look back at my dad and grab the luggage from him before saying goodbye. "bye dad" I say as I hug him "bye sweetie, call me as soon as you land" he says as he kisses the top of my head and pulls away from the hug. I wave goodbye as I walk away and into the gates.
I get onto the plane and put my luggage onto the top compartment then take my seat. I pull out my phone and text my dad that I just got on the plane then put in my earbuds and listen to music until we land.

Once we finally landed I got off the plane and head to baggage claim. Once I grab my bags I look around for my ojichan but I can't seem to find him anywhere. That's when I hear my name being called behind me.
