Chapter 1

Another boring day at school. Mr. Lee is blabbing about Nevada and how it started. I seriously don’t care. All I want to do right now is go home and take a shower. Then go to bed of course.  I suddenly woke up from my day dreaming when I heard a bell ring and I felt like the happiest woman alive because it was the actual bell and that  meant that I could get in my car and drive away to my little cozy house that I live in with my mom, dad, and brother, Mark. I love my family but sometimes they could be just a little weird or annoying. I don’t mean to be mean but when they are trying to be funny, it doesn’t turn out so pretty and my mom thinks that she’s a teenager, trying to talk like “we cool kids” talk. And my brother can be very annoying. He gets me in trouble and he loves to hit me. Last night he took his nerf gun and shot me like seven times. It hurt because he added some more weight to each bullet so I went to bed with lots of bruises. So you might not call my family normal.

Then, I can talk to you about the most boring topic on the planet.... my life. It is the same routine every single day. I wake up, wash my face, brush my teeth, wear my clothes, brush my hair, run downstairs and eat my breakfast. Then I have eight hours in school and come home to do my homework. I can’t hang out with my friends because I don’t have any. Speaking about friends, nobody gets me. I have my own type of weird. I don’t dress the same like everyone else. I don’t listen to the same music like everyone else and I do not like public speaking which I’m surprised because everyone loves it these days. I just wish I could find someone exactly like me to talk to and to go shopping with because like I said, I have my own type of weird. But we all know that can’t happen because, just like everyone says, we are all unique. There is no one like us, well no one like me at least.

Another Tuesday, anything good about it? No, it’s just like any other day. I parked my car and opened the front door to my house. I heard my brother Mark running and yelling like a maniac. I tripped him when he was about to run past me. I asked him why he was being such a freak. He told me that we were moving to San Francisco. I got excited for a moment but then I remembered the time when Mark lied to me and said we were moving to Paris, France and I started acting like a fool jumping around and practicing my french. My brother got the whole thing on tape and put it on MYTUBE, the famous internet website where more than a million people log on to watch music videos or hilarious clips. My creepy french video got about one million views. Anyway, I wasn’t going to fall for it this time so I rolled my eyes and went stomping into the kitchen and got out some orange juice. My mother stopped me and said “Sweetie, did you hear the news? We’re moving to San Francisco.” I screamed, ran upstairs, and started packing all my cute clothes. Then I saw my father at my doorway. He asked me “ Lexi, what are you doing?” I happily replied “ I’m packing my stuff for the move. You know, we’re moving to San Francisco?” “Oh, your mother already told you,” he asked. “Um, ya. And thank you so much dad. This is going to be the start of a new life.”

He walked out of my room. I was here all alone thinking about the wonderful things that can happen over there in San Francisco. I can meet new friends, I can go to different places, and I might find love over there. I mean all the people in my school have girlfriends and boyfriends. I don’t want one at the time but maybe I can find someone that shares the same interests like me when I grow a little older. I snapped out of my daydreaming when I hear something crashing onto the ground. I rolled my eyes and said to myself “Mark”. I go back to packing and was surprised. I finished in less than thirty minutes. I looked around in my closet  and saw that every single thing has been packed already. I realized that I barely have any clothes. I ran downstairs and asked my mom for a favor  “Hey mom. Can I go to the mall tomorrow?” “ Of course Lexi. Here’s one hundred dollars.” My jaw dropped at the fact that my mom just handed me one hundred dollars. It looks like everyone is happy that we’re moving to San Francisco. My brother is acting like a maniac, more than usual. My dad skipped work today and my mom just gave me one hundred dollars. We should be moving all the time.
