"Tic Tac Toe!" He said, pointing to the board he made with the straw wrappers
I picked up one of the sugar packets and put it down in one of the boxes.
We went on with this for about 30 minutes as we ate, the 'newly engaged' discount giving us a chance to try new things. The win and loss rate for us was nearly equal, me having two more wins than him.
'There is quiet'
"This was the best night of my life, " I stated.
I wish I could say that again.
"Can I drive?" Alex asked.
"Um, " I looked over to the street, "Yeah, sure. Just pay attention to the other people on the road."
"Yeah, of course. I know how to drive."
"True, " I agreed with a small laugh.
'For just a moment'
Me and Alex roared with laughter and I hit the dashboard, my breath unsteady.
"More reasons to love you, your humor is unmatched!" He said as he began moving forward again from the stoplight.
I didn't notice.
"Fuckin' Gogurt!" I wheezed, referencing the tweet we had just read.
He broke out in laughter again.
"That tweet is going to be the death of me!"
"Gogurt!" I shouted again, almost crying at this point.
And he lost control.
He swerved, his laughter immediately replaced with panic. Before I could register what was happening the car was spinning and pain was shooting through my legs. It felt like my back was on fire as blood dripped from my face.
'When I was seventeen'
-POV SWAP, Y/N THIRD PERSON-
They woke up to sirens. But before they could process anything around them, the pain came back. Their eyes closed once more before they drifted back into unconsciousness. They woke up in flashes like this many times, never fully understanding their surroundings. And then they stopped changing.
Eventually, they just stayed asleep, their thoughts constantly squandered by an obnoxious beeping noise. By the time they actually cared enough to think about what it was, they heard talking. Y/N would hear Will's voice, always followed by a higher-pitched female voice.
The new voice was persistent, it would almost never leave them be. They could hear it echoing in the back of his mind, lingering even if there were no more real words. They couldn't stand not knowing who it belonged to. It annoyed them beyond reason.
'A hurricane destroyed my town'
Y/N saw light. Wonderful, beautiful, bright light. There was no more darkness, just light. For the first time in what felt like forever, they felt as if they could actually smile. And they did.
"Y/N!" George shouted, jumping up from where he sat.
Wilbur, who had fallen asleep in the chair that he sat at, woke up with a jolt.
"What, what happened? Is he okay?!" They yelled, panicked.
"Y/N, oh my god! You're alive!"
"George, "Their voice was hoarse and it hurt to speak.
"Hold on, um, " George paused to look around before grabbing the unopened water bottle that sat next to him, "Here, " He took off the lid and tipped it towards me.
Y/N tried to move his arm so he could grab it, but instead was met with horrible pain.
"Careful, " George smiled weakly.
"Right, " Y/N said, grabbing the bottle with their other hand.
'I didn't drown'
It turns out their legs were crushed in the accident. The doctors spent 3 hours trying to figure out a good way to support both of their legs without hurting me further.
'I couldn't seem to die'
"Wilbur, " Y/N caught the brunet's attention.
"Where's Alex?"
His face fell into one of despair and pity.
"Y/N, I'm so, " He looked like he was about to cry, "I'm so sorry..."
Panic flooded their chest, but they kept a hopeful smile on their face.
"What do you mean, 'sorry'? He's ok, right? He has to be..."
"Y/N he's... he's gone. They tried to save him, but-"
"No, you're lying to me. Alex is ok."
Wilbur stayed quiet for a moment.
"Right?"
"I'm so sorry..."
"No, no, no!" Tears welled in their eyes.
"No, he can't! He can't be!" Their words broke into sobs.
Wilbur held Y/N as the smaller one cried, his chest muffling the repeating 'Nos'.
'I wrote my way out
Wrote everything down as far as I could see
I wrote my way out
I looked up and the town had its eyes on me'
Once I had gotten let out it had already been a month, with no videos uploaded on my or Alex's channel. I had no idea how I was going to break it to his fans, and I was still hung up on it myself. I knew that people were going to blame me, and it was going to be a whole dramatic ordeal.
My life was falling apart.
'They passed the plate around'
I didn't eat anything for a few days, ending in me having to go back to the doctors to get a few bags of IV pumped into me.
'Total strangers'
It was another week before I uploaded another pre-recorded video.
'Moved to kindness by my story'
Once I revealed it to the public I was met with a lot of sympathies. I knew everyone was devastated by our loss, and quite a few people decided to take a break from uploading.
Karl was the most upset.
'Raised enough for me to book passage on a ship that was New York bound'
It turned out that I was out for a little over a month. They had taken Alex to be buried in his hometown in Mexico, and I had missed his funeral.
'I miss him'
