After a few months of a loving marriage, Jaime had returned to your shared chambers and found you at your desk sifting through letters. Your expression strained in focus as your teeth sunk into your bottom lip. But as soon as he closed the door behind him, you looked up and beamed a smile his way. Getting up from your seat so you could hurry over and fall into his open arms.
"I trust your day wasn't too hard?" You asked between quick pecks to his lips.
His hands trailed down to rest on your hips, chuckling with each kiss you eagerly placed. "It was just the usual day in King's Landing."
"Ah, so there was some hidden threats, false smiles and mild back stabbing." Ceasing your display of affection, you cocked a brow in good humour and finally left to grab some wine for the pair of you. "I heard you took a little trip into the city alone."
You passed a glass to Jaime and he took a small sip. "I was picking up an item I payed to be made."
Curiosity glittered in your eyes, almost as dazzling as when you watched the stars, and Jaime plucked your wine from your grip and placed both cups down. He guided you over to the mirror. Stepping behind you as you listened to the sound of a box opening.
"I thought this would be appropriate considering your obsession with constellations." He continued and you watched him fasten a silver necklace around your neck. A coin sized star hung from the delicate chain, with a diamond glittering at its centre. You held a hand over your mouth in awe. Not only of the fine craftsmanship, but of the gesture as well. No one had ever given you a gift just for the sake of it.
You turned to face your husband, eyes blurring with unshed tears, and managed to choke out, "thank you, I—I love it."
"Good. I thought that I'd show you that the stars had led my to my true home as well." Jaime pulled you into a gentle kiss and you had to lean into him to remain upright on weakened knees.

(Present day)
There was only an hour left of daylight. Jaime could barely go two steps without yawning or stumbling over his own feet. Everything around him blurred into one incoherent mess and nearly all hope of finding you was gone.
It were as if you had just completely ceased to be. He would have thought he had gone mad if it weren't for Brienne or Tyrion occasionally coming out to offer help. Though Jaime would turn them down each time. Mainly because he didn't want them to see him look so hopeless and weak. But he especially didn't want them to hear the way his voice broke when he called out your name.
He reached the very last area he had not yet covered and almost immediately spotted a familiar item dangling from an upturned cart.
"No...no-gods no." Jaime nearly lost his balance as he lurched into an awkward sleep deprived run to get a closer look. It had splattered blood over its surface and Jaime clutched a necklace in a white knuckled grip. The coin sized star. The diamond centre. It was the necklace he had gifted you. The necklace you refused to take off no matter what.
A dry sob ripped through his throat and he fell to his knees, holding the necklace close to his chest as he curled into himself. Shoulders quaking. Tears threatening to spill with no end.
"No, please no." He said with a tremulous voice and pressed his lips to the necklace, rocking back and forth. "I promise I'll be a better man. I promise I'll try to make everything right again. Just don't take her from me. Please-please I'll be so lost without her."
When only silence answered back, Jaime's entire body quaked and he slammed his fist into the ground. Still clutching the necklace. Tears finally fell as he continuously punched the ground. Roaring out the sudden burst of rage. He did not stop until his knuckles split open and bled and he had no energy left to even lift his arm.
Eventually he just stared off into space with a blank face and silent tears rolling down his cheeks. His entire body limp. He should have convinced you to stay in Kings Landing. He should never have allowed you to talk him into taking you to Winterfell.
You assured him you'd be fine and that you'd be safe with the rest of the women and children.
Day soon slipped into night and Jaime couldn't bring himself to look up at the stars. The cold seeped into his bones though he couldn't care less. Everything seemed so dull and lifeless to him. What was the point in anything?
"Jaime?" He snapped his head up, eyes wide and mouth hung open, and he spotted you cautiously slipping through a small gap in the wall. Your husband almost believed his mind was playing tricks in his grief. But as soon as he saw your breath cloud in the cold winters night, he mustered enough strength to scramble to his feet and fling his arms around you. His desperate sobs returned whilst you hugged him with all your might.
"Where were you?" He cried into your shoulder as he pressed his head to the crook of your neck. "I searched everywhere for you. I thought you- you were dead."
You tried to pull away to wipe his tears, but Jaime refused to let you go. His hands shaking against your back. "I was chased into the forest and lost the dead amongst the trees. By the time I felt it was safe, it was day and I didn't know where I was."
Jaime finally eased up his grip so he could take in your face. Your rosy cheeks a sign of life and warmth. Alive. You were alive. You continued, "as soon as the stars returned I followed them back to Winterfell. I followed them to you. My home."
Wiping away his tears with a comforting smile, your hands lingered on his face and Jaime heaved a sob before he slammed his lips against yours. He soon ripped himself away to look you in the eye and growl, "never again, you hear me. You will stay by my side at all times of the day, forever and always."
"I promise." You breathed and touched your brow to his. Closing your eyes as your voice dipped into a quiet whisper. "I promise."
