"As pretty as they are, I still can't entirely understand your fascination with constellations." Jaime draped his arm around you shoulders and pulled you in. Placing a gentle peck to your head.
You released a noise of contentment as you sunk further into your lovers embrace. "They are not only beautiful, they are a guide to those lost in the night. If you can't find your way then look up to the stars and you will know where your heading is." slowly, you pointed up to the sky once more and traced another constellation. "When I was a child, I lived a very lonely life and, more often than not, I'd feel lost even in my own home. A Maester once caught me crying and comforted me by showing me the sky. He said that if I knew them well I would be able to find my way to my true home."
"Have you found it yet?" The question rolled off his tongue without much thought and he held his breath when you finally flicked your gaze to him. Your head tilted up from your position nuzzled into his chest.
From your silence, Jaime had guessed you still felt a little lost. Yet your smile that developed within the quiet had settled his heart that twisted in his chest. You pulled away from the embrace to place a hand on his cheek. Eyes roaming over every feature as you stroked your thumb over the ridge of his cheekbone. You finally whispered, "I think I have."

Body after body he turned over and he still had yet to find you. He couldn't settle into relief or fear as time continued to slip by. Minuets turned to hours as he did not stop to take a rest, even as the survivors had nearly cleared away all of the fallen and retired to their beds. He was relentless in his search for you.
Some colour had returned to the world. Burnt oranges and reds swirled in the sky as the sun hung low on the horizon. A whole day had passed since the battle was won. A whole day of a search that bore no fruit.
Exhaustion weighed down his steps as he curled into a hunch. Eyes droopy and dark circles had formed beneath. Some had tried to get him to rest. Though each one was shoved away or hissed at with a string of curses and accused of getting in the way. Eventually those who even had the energy to attempt to look out for his wellbeing had slipped away for some much needed sleep.
Jaime climbed over fallen rubble and rubbed at his tired eyes. He had made it to the back end of Winterfell, where most did not bother to reach. Some areas were overgrown with shrubbery and vines and remained more or less untouched by most of the chaos.
He looked up at a crooked tower, sparking memories of a time long ago. A time where he was a completely different man and had no idea that a person such as yourself was about to come into his life.
The Knight flinched when he remembered the child he pushed out a window for Cersei. An innocent who would never walk again. Maybe what he had endured after and was still enduring, was the gods' punishment for his crimes. Of laying with a sister, attempting to murder a child and being so far up his own ass with arrogance that he looked down on many.
But why involve you in his punishment? In all accounts, you were a woman the gods would have loved. Why couldn't they have struck him down in battle? Deny him access to the afterlife? Not make you pay the ultimate price for him to suffer.

Married. The pair of you lost in new marital bliss as you spent every waking moment together. No one could convince one of you to part for more than a day and even then you'd both be incredibly distracted.
Jaime felt like he was in a wonderful dream as he viewed you as being too good to be true. Surely he didn't deserve someone to make him feel so loved and whole. That he was home.
