My legs were shaky.

My eyes were teary.

And my mind... was in complete chaos.

Lahat ng estudyante sa loob ng resto ay nanunuod lang at walang lakas ng loob na makialam.

Kahit na harap-harapan ang nangyayaring pang-aalipusta ay parang wala lang sa kanila.

Kahit makakita ng pagka-bahala ay wala akong naramdaman. Kung titingnan, parang nag-eenjoy pa nga sila sa nakikita.

Maging si Braelyn at Nash sa nasa 'di kalayuan ay kapwa nanunuod lang. Si Levi naman na napaliligiran ng mga babaeng estudyante ay nakangisi habang pinagmamasdan ang gulong nangyayari.

Si Missi naman ay bored na tinitingnan kami.

Si Lyle ay walang emosyong nakatingin kay Everleigh.

At si Everleigh...

When I looked at her, she smiled once again.

A smile that can tell you you're one step away from a ruined life.

Humarap si Everleigh sa waiter at muling kinuha ang card ni Lyle at bahagyang natawa.

"I just find it funny," she said in between her small laugh. "The as-silent-as-dead Lyle Heimsworth stood up for a nobody."

She then looked at my eyes.

"What's so special about you, huh?"

I met her eyes with the same intensity.

Naikuyom ko ang kamao ko.

Gusto kong magsalita.

Gusto kong tingnan siya sa mga mata at magmaldita.

Gusto kong lumaban.

Pero hindi ako naririto para sa sarili ko. May misyon akong dapat matapos at kapag lumaban ako, tiyak mahihirapan akong manalo.

Kasabay ng paglunok ko sa laway ko ay ang paglunok ko sa katiting na pride na mayroon ako.

"Save me..." mahina kong bulong.

I looked down and bit my tongue.

"Save me, Everleigh..."

I heard Everleigh scoffed.

"I'm shocked," she said smirked. "Hindi lang pala makapal ang mukha mo. Oportunista ka pa."

I closed my eyes hardly.

Reign, calm down.

"Won't you stop?" Lyle asked.

Everleigh looked at him with amused eyes.

"Why don't you just go away, Lyle?"  Missi joined.

Lyle was about to say something but he chose to close his mouth.

Ngumisi lalo si Everleigh nang makita iyon.

"See, Lyle? Hindi lang ako ang naiirita sa pakikialam mo. Even your childhood friends felt it. We enjoy the good-as-invincible Lyle Heimsworth. Why don't you just go back to that character?"

Lyle looked at Everleigh with sharp eyes.

"Why, Lyle?" tanong ni Everleigh. "Makakalaya na ba ang tatay mo and need niyo ng publicity stunt para magpabango sa publiko?"

Tawanan ang maririnig sa buong resto habang kami ni Lyle ay hindi umiimik. Halata ang pagpipigil niya ng galit.

"Or, might as well join your mom and sister abroad," Everleigh added. "We would appreciate that."
