It was midnight and Kima a 17 year old girl was by her window staring into the sky as the stars twinkled. Kima was going through a lot of stuff at her home. Her mom and dad fought every night and her grandma had recently died. As Kima looked out her window at the stars she spoke to the moon, she told him her problems. Every last trouble she had she told to the moon. The moon never answered back but just knowing that she had someone to talk to made her slightly more happy and less stressed.
Kima looked up at the moon o
once more before she laid her head down to sleep and spoke to it in a soft tone. "Goodnight Moon, I will see you the next night"
The Moon didn't respond as normal. Kima nodded at the sky before climbing into her not so comfortable bed to go to sleep. It was very difficult for her to sleep over the sound of yelling and the violent swears coming from her parents fowl mouths. But as Kima closed her eyes and toned out her parents as best as she could, she drifted off to a not so deep sleep.
In the morning Kima woke up to the sound of the front door slamming and a following sobs from what sounded to be her mother. Kima sleepily walked out of her ice cold room. She walked down the hallway of doors to take a left into the living room with a connecting kitchen.
She looked at her mom who was looming over a stack of divorce papers. "Mom?" Kima spoke. "what are those?"
Her mom looked at Kima with a soft sigh "they are divorce papers honey. Your father and I are getting a divorce. He has already packed out his things and left. You will be moving into your Aunts house for the time being" Her mom sighed again.
"Okay... I will go pack my things" Kima went to her room and started to pack her school bag. She wasn't going to her Aunts. She hated the old hag. After a few minutes of packing her school bag she snuck out of the house. Kima had no clue where she was going to go but she knew she had to leave the toxic ass place she was already in.
Kima walked down the gloomy streets of her neighborhood. There were broken bottles scattered on the ground, used condoms, and road kill all over the street. "People don't care about the health of the world" Kima thought to herself .
As Kima walked down her street the murderous silence made her ears ring. The only sound she could hear were the echoed footsteps of her tattered sneakers. Step...Step...Step... soon enough her feet wernt the only sounds on her block. She heard blaring sirens become louder as a police car rushed past her. Whoosh! her hair flew across her tired face covering any sight she had in her eyes. She stumbled a bit before brushing her long dirt brown hair away from her eyes and behind her small ears. The sirens became quieter as the police car kept down the road.
Kima sighed to herself as she was alone again on her dim neighborhood which seemed to be going on for miles and miles. Step...Step...Step... her steps became louder in her head. The ringing wouldn't stop. it hurt, it burned, "Go away! go away!" she thought to her lonesome. Kima took a deep breath but soon coughing after it. The smoke of the druggies on her block filled her lungs. she exhaled with a large sigh which echoed down the never ending street.
Kima looked ahead of her as she felt like she was walking for an hour, her feet sore, her legs wobbled, her eyes closing from the lack of sleep. "I need to get to a shelter" She thought. Soon enough a loud echo of a germen shepherds barks echoed into her ears rattling her to reality. a small gasp escaped her lips, followed by a soft and shaky exhale. "I will be okay on my own" She muttered a loud.
