Chapter 1

        As Ed opened his eyes the last thing he remembered was him and Al next to their mother’s grave, grief filled souls, then next thing they knew there was a bright light, then Ed collapsed, as his eyes opened a hospital scene came into view, “Edward! You’re awake!” He recognized that voice, “Leutendent?” Hawkeye shushed him, “call me Rize.” Ed was confused to say the lease, “ok, but where am I?” He asked, Rize’s face turned serious, “we’re in a hospital.” It took Ed a little bit to comprehend what was just said, “hospital? Ah! Where’s Al!” He sat up, but was brought back down by a shocking pain in his abdomen, he yelped, “Edward, please don’t worry. Al never crossed over to this world. He’s fine, so please lay down.” Hawkeye assured, Ed laid back down, with pain still roaring in his stomach, “are you sure?” Ed asked with worry, Rize nodded so he laid back down and stared at the ceiling.

       When Ed awoke again Rize wasn’t by his side and the pain was no more, “ah, you’re awake!” A woman in a doctor’s coat approached his bed, “here take this.” She said with a calming smile, he hesitated for a moment, “don’t worry, it’s painkillers, it should help with the pain.” He took the medication out of her hand, “don’t forget to take water,” she mentioned, “don’t wanna choke.” He took the medicine and then drank the water, “um, excuse me?” The doctor turned to him, “did you happen to see a woman with blonde hair at all?” He asked in desperation, “hm? Ah yes, your aunt said she would be right back.” Ed was confused, “my aunt?” It then came to him, “oh, ok.” Rize is playing it off as his aunt, “while I still have you,” the doctor started, “what’s your name? I’m Dr. Kanchiki.” Dr. Kanchiki introduced herself, “Edward Elric. It’s nice to meet you doctor.” He said with a small grin, she returned it, "so you both have very European names, I wonder where you're from…"

    "Germany." Hawkeye interrupted,

   Ed didn’t know how to answer anyways, “oh, Germany…” she was silent for a few moments then spoke, “well then, we got your chart and you have food coming so I should be leaving.” She smiled and bowed then left, as soon as she left a cart came in with multiple plates and bowls filled with food being pushed by a female nurse, “here’s food for you Elric-San, Hawkeye-San.” The nurse bowed and left.

    As soon as the nurse left Rize picked up some chopsticks and selected a piece of fish to nom on first, she was silently chewing for a moment then mentioned, “you know, it isn’t even half bad.” She grinned, Ed took one sniff and gagged, “you know I’m not really that hungry.” He said quickly and quietly, Rize looked at him questioning, “are you sure?” He nodded, “I’m sure.”
