|Chapter 23| A Way

"Is your arm or anything else itchy at all?" She looks at me even more confused.

"No, why are you asking?" She asked.

"I just needed to check something." Lucas looks at me.

"Let's get you to the machine first then we can ask more questions once we get the sickness out of you."

"Yeah, we can figure out what's going on with the Overseer later." Illusion says he goes over to me and helps me up. "Can you understand me?" Illusion said to me suddenly. It took me a second to figure out why he could ask that. He was talking in the old Steve language. I understand it because of how long I have been around the Steves. They used to only speak like this, but now they speak English just like I do.

"Yes, I can. Why are you trying to tell me?" Illusion seemed relieved.

"You're friend over there has a steve like energy." He pointed to Lucas and I was utterly confused. "Look you will just have to trust me and Alex on this okay? We just noticed this and thought that you should know since he is your friend." I nod understanding, but leaving me to question why Lucas has that energy to him. Illusion helps me get outside to the backyard Lucas has in his house.

The machine already looks a lot better than the one I and Lucas used before. The rRedstonewiring was stronger and more precise than before. The machine had a redstone source this time and there were seven pistons. This machine might actually work this time. Illusion helps me get inside the machine and they quickly lock me in. I couldn't move just like I shouldn't be able to especially with the pistons forcing me to stand.

"Okay, he is locked in. Are you sure this will work?" Alex asked. Time and Illusion were staying back because Lighting was going to strike me once the machine was fully turned on.

"It has too," Lucas tells Alex. Galaxy walked to the right and I couldn't move my head to see where he went. I think he went to pull a lever to turn on the machine.

"Lucas back up, the lighting can really hurt you," Galaxy tells him Lucas backs up to where Illusion and Time are standing.

"Are you ready Sabre?" Alex asked me. I tried to say something, but nothing came out. Either this machine was really strong or I'm really just that weak. "Okay then... Galaxy are you ready?" Alex asked him.

"Yup, I'm ready!" Galaxy said excitedly. Alex looks towards Galaxy and nods. "Three... two... one!" Just like that, I felt a strong painful bolt of energy run through my body. The sound of thunder rang through my ears. I waited for the pain to go away, but it didn't. It only got worse. The painful energy that was pulsing through me was chaotic and unwelcome in a way. It was focusing on getting the sickness out of me... no not just the sickness... my code... my energy as well. I struggled under the pressure of the pistons on me. I needed to get out, I needed to move, but I couldn't. I wanted to scream, but I couldn't. I was stuck in this machine that was causing me more pain than good.

They wouldn't turn off the machine until the thunder and lightning stopped, but at this point, it wouldn't stop until all of my energy was out of me and I mean all of it. All I could do was drown in the pain and wait until it stopped until it took all of my energy away... until all my code was gone along with the sickness.

"Turn off the machine!" I suddenly heard a voice say through all the thunder that was ringing in my ears. Time Steve's voice.

"Why?! We have to wait until the lighting stops!" Alex told Time.

"Trust me!" I could barely see Time Steve run over to where Galaxy was and he turned off the machine. I felt so relieved when that painful energy was gone. I was still locked in the machine and the sick feeling came back worse than before.

"Why did you turn off the machine?!" Lucas asked Time Steve angrily. Time ignored him and turned off the rest of the machine as the pistons retracted back freeing me. I fell to my knees and used my hands to keep me from falling completely. I breathed heavily and took a second to catch my breath.

"Sabre? Are you okay?" Time went over to me and sat next to me. He helped me sit up and I weakly lay against him.

"Better than being in the machine..." I mumble. Alex and Lucas looked at each other.

"How did you know that Sabre was in pain in the machine?" Lucas quickly asked as he went over to us. He probably feels bad for yelling at Time moments before. I was surprised at the same time since they figured out what was going on so quickly.

"I don't know... I just. I had a feeling that something was wrong with the machine." Time said honestly. He was just as confused as everyone else. Illusion went to the right side of the machine and opened a chest.

"Nothing is in here it wasn't working." Illusion told everyone.

"Sorry, Sabre... Time." Alex tells both of us.

"It's okay Alex you didn't know." Time nods agreeing with what I said. I put a hand on my head and felt dizzy. Galaxy comes over.

"Are you feeling okay?" Galaxy asked worriedly.

"Just feel more sick." I can practically hear the sighs of disappointment everyone had.

"Here! I find eating puffer fish makes everything better!" He takes one out of his inventory. Galaxy loves to fish. A little too much. He also really likes pufferfish and pickles and sandwiches. They don't exist in this world, except for pufferfish. In this world eating a pufferfish won't kill you, but it will make you sick. Not nearly as sick as I am though.

"Sure why not?" I don't have much of a reason not to eat it. I took the puffer fish he gave me and ate it. I started to feel the puffer fish poison affect me. I felt more dizzy than I did before and my vision went blurry. It only lasted for a second though as it quickly went away. Quicker than the effects should last. After the poison effects went away I felt better... Not better and still sick from the sickness... but better as in the sick feeling inside me was weaker...

I felt a lot better.
