I run off the bus in a panic. My stomach churning. My eyes stinging from the cold air.
The streets are still empty and foggy. I check the time on my phone; it's only 8 a.m. Everyone around me is either elderly, skipping school, or the homeless man who sleeps in the Starbucks doorway. I spot a place to sit and walk towards one of the stone seats opposite a woman with her newborn. As I sit down, the coldness of the stone makes my thighs go numb. Why did I decide to wear this outfit today? It's the middle of winter, and my wardrobe is filled with skirts and shorts. Tony and I had a fight about my clothes this morning... I don't understand why he's so bothered about it. I guess he still sees me as a child and worries. He won't be happy if he finds out what happened on the bus; I don't want to prove him right about his concerns.
I need to call someone to come and get me without Tony knowing. He would get annoyed if he knew what happened. I search through my bag and start looking for my phone. I really need to organise better; I don't need all this stuff in my bag. I quite like my bag - it's a small black backpack with kitten ears on it. I know it's kind of childish, but I've had it for a while, so I'm attached to it. I find my phone in the front pocket. Shit, it only has 3 percent battery. I open my phone and quickly scroll through my contacts. Natasha is out with Bruce for a getaway, something about helping Bruce with his emotions. Steve would definitely snitch on me; he means well, but he needs to learn to rebel once in a while. I guess, in this situation, I should stay away from someone like that.
Who would come and help me, and won't tell Tony? I guess there's only one person who fits that description.
Hey, sorry but could you help me? I'm stuck at the shopping centre. I wouldn't usually ask but I have no options.
I hit send just before my phone dies. There. That should do it. Hopefully they see my text. I put my phone back in my bag and sit patiently. I can't help but think about what happened on the bus, it was so scary and i know I'll have to face it again next week. I feel my eyes filling with tears and my throat starts to hurt. I notice the lady opposite glancing at me, so I swiftly grab my tissues out of my bag and dab away my tears gently so she doesn't notice.
"Are you okay lovey?" She asks concerned.
I struggle to get my words out; my throat is closing up from holding my tears back.
"Shouldn't you be in school? Is someone waiting for you?" She quizzed me.
I begin to answer her but I'm interrupted by a low husky voice behind me.
"Hello darling"
I jump and turn to see they actually came to my rescue. They look the same. Tall, pale and that mischievous smile.
"Hi Loki" I reply with my broken voice.
I quickly scan him looking up and down his body. He's not been awake long. His eyes still a little puffy; they look piercing blue in the cold weather. He's wearing a black collard shirt with green detailing around the collar and hem, with the top button undone. Draping over his shoulders is his favourite long black trench coat, that almost drags along the floor as he walks. As i look down I see he's wearing some casual black shoes. *Hm that's unusual for him* I think to myself.
He sits beside me and smirks at me but before I can say anything else I hear the lady chime in.
"Who's this? Are you her father?"
I think she is concerned for my safety. I don't blame her because he does have the whole 'villain' vibe. I feel slightly awkward.
"Well... you could say that yes. I'm here to take her home. Thank you for looking after her. You may go now" Loki stares at her for a second before she quickly moves on.
