(POV Demetria)

So, my name is Demetria, and this is the story about my life as a demigod.

My mom didn't fully realize that my dad was a god, at least not until I was 10. Even then, she didn't mention anything to me. I grew up, always feeling out of place. I was dyslexic, I couldn't focus on anything the teacher tried to teach us. I was kind of all on my own, my mom pretended she didn't understand. My life was a living hell, or so I thought. Everywhere I went someone knew me, someone stared, someone laughed, I never had a real child hood. I loved animals, all of them, except snakes and spiders. I couldn't decide what color my hair was, light brown or dirty blonde. No one else seemed to be able to figure it out either. Some days it was lighter, some darker. My escape from the troubles of everyday was running, I ran, hoping would day I would reach a shore line. Hoping I would find my dad, hoping for a miracle. I had a total of 3 friends, Johnson, he had a slight limp, which is probably why other kids didn't talk to him, Connor he could pull a prank on anyone, and Rachel, she was a ginger. Rachel was super pretty, she didn't date, and sometimes she blacked out, but don't underestimate her I've seen her beat the crap out of the three biggest guys in school, with just her plastic hairbrush. She was by far one of my best friends.

I had been going to this school for about a month before Johnson, Connor, and Rachel showed up. I had tried to talk my mom into letting me drop out at least 4 times already. She wasn't letting me off easy this time, and I knew she was serious. My mom, she wasn't the best, but she tried. We never really had enough money, until she met Adam. They dated for about 3 years, then he proposed, life had finally started to get better. They got married, Adam offered to pay my way into boarding school, said it might be easier for me to make friends there. So, I agreed. It wasn't to far from home, and I got to visit mom and Adam on the weekends. I met Rachel first, she was wandering around looking for Biology 1, which was where I was heading. I started talking to her, she obviously hadn't been here long, because she was actually nice to me. Turns out it was her first day, and I was her roommate. She told me about her friend Percy, how he was one of her closest friends, how she met him. All these amazing things she experienced, and I was jealous. She said that her friend Connor was going to start going to school here, she told me about how they went to summer camp every year together. She showed me a picture, and I have to admit I thought he was cute. Then Johnson came, he was so nice to me, I wasn't attracted to him though. He was more like my brother, he stood up for me. Now, your pretty much caught up back story wise, lets get to the fun part.

I had known Connor for almost a year, we had been dating for 6 months. I was going to miss him over the summer, and I didn't know what would happen.

"Demetria, I've told you a thousand times not to worry." Connor being comforting as usual.

"I know, but Con 3 months. I am going to miss you like crazy."

"I am going to miss you too. But I will try my best to see you this summer okay? I know I don't have a cell phone, and neither do you, but I wont let you forget about me that easily."

"Okay, tell Travis I said hi." Travis was Connor's half-brother, I had met him a few times.

"I will! I love you, Demi."

"I love you, too, Connor."

Then he got on the bus, and the bus left. I went back to the dorm room I shared with Rachel. She was still packing, where as I had finished packing 3 weeks ago. Rachel was going to spend a few days at my house, before she went to camp.

"So, a few weeks ago, my mom told me we were going on vacation." Rachel said.

"Oh, cool. So, are you not going to camp this year?"

"I am going, but I'm skipping the first 2 weeks. The first week is for new campers, and the second is all about catching up with old friends."

"Oh, well where did your mom say you were going on vacation?"

"The Bahama's, and I was wondering if you would want to go with us?"

"Really?! I would love to! Thank you Rachel!"

"Yay! We are leaving June 2nd, so I still have time to go to your house."

"Cool, so maybe my summer might not suck as much as I thought." I giggled, if only I knew.
