You guys were best friends since kindergarten. You guys went on vacations together every summer and when your mother passed away from being sick, Kevin was always by your side throughout the whole thing comforting you. You guys were inseparable until that one day of 4th grade, you heard the worst news possible. You and your dad were moving to Los Angeles because your dad got a really good job opportunity at the MGM Grand. All your life you wanted to live in Los Angeles but now that it actually happened, you regret your decision because you always thought Kevin would come with you but sadly things didn't go as planned.

It was morning and it was your first day of senior year. You were extremely nervous but very excited because that means you'll be graduating in June. "y/n wake up it's your first day of school! You excited that this is going to be your last year?" Your dad said as you were in a very deep sleep. You then wake up and let out the biggest yawn "ugh another boring year" you whispered under your breath "welp I guess it's time for me to get out of bed and get ready." You then get out of bed and get your new outfit out that your dad got you for your first day of school. Your phone then rings and it's your best friend Tanya so you answer it.

"Hello?"

"Oh my god y/n aren't you excited to become a senior?!"

"Yea totally!" You said, sarcastically.

"You sound nervous? Why are you nervous? Is your brain ok? Do I have to come over there and—"

You cut her off and say "I'm nervous because this is our last year and no you don't have to come over again to bake me something."

"Oh ok well a good thing about being a senior is that we can do whatever we want and we basically control the school now. How cool is that?"

"You know I'm against that right? Getting your education is more important than just tormenting the underclassmen and skipping classes."

"You sound like my mom but this is why I like you. I need a friend that's a good influence."

"I used to have a good friend" you start to tear up while talking to Tanya.

"Do you wanna talk about it? It's ok if you don't I'll completely understand!"

"Thanks but no thanks, Tanya. Anyway I gotta finish getting ready for school I'll see u then!"

"Ok y/n bye see you at school!"

You hung up the phone and as you were still getting ready, you started to cry. Your dad comes in "hey y/n you ready for sch— honey, what's wrong?" He asks. "Nothing. Hey dad, did you ever used to have a best friend but sadly had to move far away from them?" You said while still in tears. "Why yes yes I have! I remember him like it was yesterday. His name was Richard and we used to call him The Rich Man. We were the best of friends way back in preschool and he was my only friend basically. We hung out almost everyday after school and we had a lot of fun together until one day, me and your grandparents had to move from Oregon to New York. I was devastated but we still kept in touch by sending each other postcards and letters so it still felt like I was still there with him. To this day, we are still great friends and he's actually the one who gave me the job opportunity." He said. "Oh wow really? So it was that easy?" You asked "Why yes, y/n. You know everyone's always texting each other somehow on social media apps and that's how we reconnected." "So like if I were to somehow find Kevin on Instagram, we'd get reunited?" You asked. "Yes and oh Kevin I remember him. You guys were great friends huh?" He said, feeling your pain. You sniffle and then said "yes we were really great friends and I think about him everyday but I don't know if he'll remember me." "Honestly y/n it takes time for something like this to become possible." He ended of saying so you thanked your dad as you were wiping away your tears. "Now finish getting ready or else your gonna be late." He said, sternly.

It was almost 7am and you were rushing to get everything done like finishing packing your backpack, packing your lunch and your car keys. Under your breath, you whisper, "ok that should do it!" and proceeded to walking down the stairs to put everything in your car. You wave goodbye to your dad and he waves back. Now you started to think that maybe this year wouldn't be so bad because it'll be like any other year at high school but things will just be a tad bit different. "I so got this! Go y/n go!" you say to yourself, confidently.
