Today was the first day of my last year of high-school. My school year was going to consist of zero boys, friend's, food, and parties. I wasn't going to let my emotions get in the way of me having the best senior year.
"Grace! Wake up!" I heard a small voice shout at me.
"I'm up!" I said screaming. When I opened my eyes my six year old sister was standing over me. "Don't you know how to knock?" I scolded her.
"Nope!" I glared at her and she just stood their crossing her arms.
"I'm not dealing with this today Ember get out of my room!" She stood there for more time just looking at me still with her arms crossed. "Now!" She then ran out of my room.
I began to sit up on my bed and a long yawn escaped my mouth. I'm up. I rubbed my sleepless eyes away and then started my morning routine.
First, I grabbed a shower. Which usually took me about 15 minutes. Than, after my hair was dried I would straighten, curl, or even braid my hair. After I was done with everything, I would get dressed.
I pulled out my phone and texted my best friend Camry. I hadn't seen her all summer and I honestly didn't know why. The last time I saw her was the beginning of the summer.
7:27
Me: Good-morning!
I waited for about 5 minutes and again no response I felt sad for myself. I decided just to shrug it off and get ready for school.

Once I was done getting dressed I looked in the mirror and took a deep breath. "You got this." I said whispering to myself. My hair was straighten and my outfit was nice. I was ready.
When I went downstairs Ember was eating her food with a big sappy grin on her face.
"Good-morning Grace." My mom said towards me.
"Good-morning mom." She spun her chair around so she could face me.
"Ember tells me you kicked her out of your room." I nodded.
"I did." I shrugged. My mom giggled.
"Ember you know to stay out of your sisters room! If you go in there again you will get spanked." Embers lower lip trembled.
"M-mom!" My mom looked at her.
"No sister no!" My mom said snapping back at her. "Do not talk back to me."
"It's not fair!" Ember pouted. "She gets the biggest room! With a bathroom! I get a dumb room with toys." My mom looked at her.
"So is this you telling me you'd rather have an empty room with just a bed and a dresser no toys?" She shook her head no violently. "So stop complaining and eat your breakfast." I giggled. My mom got off the bar stool and came and gave me a hug. "I hope you have a good day sweetheart." I nodded.
I grabbed my car keys and then headed out the door. Once I was out of the house I started my Jeep and drove to the high-school. It wasn't a bad school but the usual drama and rumors never stopped.
It made me wonder sometimes but I decided most of the time not to put to much thought into it. As I walked through the halls of the school many students were walking around and talking to their friend's. Yet, my friend, my best friend was nowhere to be seen.
Involuntarily I kept to myself. I shuffled things neatly into my locker and afterwards I walked to the office to get my schedule. As I was waiting in line I heard giggles and whispers something you would hear in elementary school. I turned around to see my best-friend with our worst enemy Katie Lee. After I got my schedule I decided to walk over and see what all this laughter was coming from.
"Camry, you haven't answered any texts from me. What's the reason?" She crossed her arms and looked up and down at me.
"Oh Grace. Why would anyone want to answer texts from you? Your under average." I looked at my friend, or I guess ex friend with disgust. "I don't really think we should hangout anymore it's hurting my social status. Maybe," she thought for a moment. "Be friend's with people who meet your shitty personality." I looked at Camry.
"We've been friends for years Camry." I said as tears started to well in my eyes. "Years! And you just want to stop? Why now what happened?" Camry stayed quiet.
"Didn't you hear her? Go walk somewhere else!" Katie jumped in. I nodded slowly and then just walked away.
I decided to ignore what just happened and walked to my first hour. "Good morning class." She had her blonde hair up in a bun and she was wearing black thick glasses. "You guys don't seem like you are in a good mood. Come on this is English class!" She said with an enthusiastic voice. "Let's get started."
As I listened to Mrs.Antonio speak I wished my life was better. She played scenarios for us, made us guess what and who she was. It wasn't half bad of a class.
She began to show us what we would be doing for the year and what things she would be teaching. The notes we would be taking and everything else we would be focusing on for the school year.
"How are you?" She said slowly. I smiled. "I meant how are you doing." She gestured to the piece of paper that was laying on my desk.
"I'm um." She smiled.
"I could tell somethings a matter, how about you go take a lap. We can do this tomorrow. Go eat early for lunch." I smiled.
"Thank you." She politely took my paper and went to her desk. I gathered up my things and went out the door.
Why was my life such a mess? I asked myself as I walked down the long narrow hallway. Why did it hurt so much?
"Why are you thinking so much?" I jumped in my own tracks and looked to the right of me to see a teenage boy. He had a white tee on and blue jeans. His hair was dirty blonde and messy.
"Excuse me?" I said looking at him.
"You have a lot on your mind. Why?" I crossed my arms and glared at him.
"I don't have to tell you any of my business!" I said walking off. I heard the boy shift out of his seat and footsteps walking towards me.
"I'm sorry. That's probably not a good opening line to start a friendship." I still had my arms crossed. "I'm Adam." I looked at him slowly.
"And I'm not interested." I said and walked away from him once more.
"That's a good thing because I'm gay." I closed my eyes and started to smile a bit. I turned around and saw him standing there in the hallway. I took another look at him and giggled. "I mean I haven't come out yet but. I am." I smiled and started to walk back to him.
"I'm Grace. I'm sorry that I sound like such a bitch." He smiled.
