A young girl with shoulder length blonde hair and blue eyes suddenly races into a room, colliding with the knees of a woman dressed in pink. The woman picks up the child, asking, "What is it my dear?"

"Momma, Bero was telling me about how magic came to be. But he said that you knew the story better than he did!" The young girl exclaims, looking at what could be her older sister. "Please, can you tell me the story?"

The woman chuckles. "I suppose I might." She walks over to one of the plush couches nearby, and sits the girl down, and goes to one of the nearby shelves. She returns with a book with a worn cover, and sits down next to her in a rustle of fabric.

"Here's how it starts, Lucy." The woman says, opening the book to the first page. The girl scrambles so that she can see the book her mother is reading, and they both look at the page together.

"Long ago, there was nothing but chaos. Then from that chaos came a being: The Star Lord. The being looked around at the chaos around it, and from it's own soul, formed three things: Order, Time and Space. They they used these tools to form what we call Earth, along with the other stars and planets. But that Earth, along with the other planets, were barren and uninhabitable. So the Star Lord took from it's soul again and formed the water, plants and animals, and sent them down to Earth. It looks down at its work, but still feels like there's something missing. So it ponders, and eventually tries to recreate itself, using the Ether energy and the dense elements from the nearby suns, creating several eggs. The Star Lord places those eggs onto the earth, and watches intently as they hatch. Soon several scaly forms burst from the eggs, and begin wrestling with one another, or hunting for food in the vegetation. Over a short period of time, they spread, and begin to take on characteristics to suit their chosen habitats.

And yet, the being watching over them wasn't satisfied. So the Star Lord tried again, this time using the Ether and soil from Earth to form several figures, which became humans. It watched the humans find their feet, and to its surprise, communicate with one another. It smiles, and watches them spread as well.

But it soon tires of watching them, and realizes that it still isn't enough. I ponders for a bit, then realizes that it is lonely. So the Star Lord takes a chunk of it's spirit, and casts itself into the place it created, to experience the wonders first hand.

However, due to the short time that the Star Lord looked away to separate itself once again, things changed on earth. For when the people and the dragons stopped feeling the presence of their divine creator, they started to grow dark and resentful of one another. Fighting broke out, and so began the Dragon Civil war.

When the being awoke, it looked over it's domain from a high craggy mountain top, and was dismayed. It flashed down towards the carnage, stopping the war. Then, the true cause of the fighting appeared - a Darkness never seen by anyone.

The Dark and the Star Lord fought day and night, never winning nor losing against each other. Finally, both created champions to fight against one another, the Warriors of Light, and the Demons. Now, due to being experienced in making beings from itself, the Star Lord was able to craft better warriors than the Dark, and they soon vanquished the Dark and its followers, sealing them away.

But one day, the Dark will rise once more. The Star Lord and the Warriors of Light knew this, and so drafted a plan. The warriors would be sealed with the greatest of their enemies, while the Star Lord would seal part of itself along with the Dark. Then it would place the rest of it's soul in the heart of a mortal, and remain there asleep until the Dark rose again."

The woman sighs. "That's the legend of how we came to be, Lucy."

"Wow!" The kid gasps, utterly amazed. "You're a really great story teller, mommy!"

Then the kid pauses, screwing up her face in thought. "But that didn't tell me about how magic came to be. All it talked was our creation!"

The woman chuckles, and smoothes a hand down the young girl's hair.

"Lucy, how do you think the Star Lord was able to create something out of nothing?" She asks.

"... I don't know!"

The woman smiles mysteriously at the girl. "It is said that the Star Lord is the first to use magic, since he created all of us. We call this, the 'All Magic', or the 'One Magic'."

"..." The girl tips her head in thought, before her eyes brighten. "I guess so. But what does that have to do with it?"

The woman sighs, and pulls the girl closer to her. "When the Star Lord made the first humans, he also gave them the gift of magic, Lucy, due to having been made by him. It was common that he put a piece of his soul inside each of his creations, thus marking them his."

"Huh." The kid comments, tilting her head. "So, he's the reason we're all able to use magic?" She suddenly lets out a yawn at the end of her sentence, and tiredly leans her head against her mother.

"That's right. But personally, I think he gave us magic to show that he loved us, and to allow us to one another." The woman comments, smiling at her child.

"Mmm." The kid murmurs, already half asleep. The woman smiles, and pulls a blanket from the side of the couch, and covers the now drowsing child.

"Sleep well, my dear. And have happy dreams." She whispers, kissing the child's forehead.
