tanzen stooorrrrrrryyyyyyyyy

hey! ive decided to continue this, i got a idea. also, shoutout to  @Kittenlover1555for helping me with motivation ;-; 

tanjoiro's pov (ik, ill do zinetsu's soon)

i had just finished cleaning up dinner, and was now scrolling through my music library. i had my earbuds in, and found sweater weather. i clicked on it, the soft piano in the backround calms me down, and i humm softly. i walk to my room, and pull out my keyboard. its been a couple months since i've used it, i can't remember some of the songs i had memorized. i mess with the keys, pressing down on one here and there. 'i wonder where my sheet music went..' i ruffle around through my black and maroon cube organizer, and find my old songs at the bottom of a basket. i sit down on my bed, and sort through them. man, some of these are terrible-  welp, that shows i have character development. 

i hear a slight knock on the door, and see nezuko standing there. i smile. "hey! i was looking through some of my old songs, wanna come see?" her face lights up, and she rushes over to the pile of papers, searching for certain ones. i sigh, and feel my smile sadden. i know what one shes looking for. she hands me papers, and bounces up and down exitedly, telling me that she wants me to play it. she can talk, but doesnt much. so i've picked up on her habits, and can tell what she wants to say with a look. if your wondering, its a song i wrote a while back, when i first developed feelings for zen. i've always had the song in my mind, had the tune and some lyrics, but it's like he was the missing piece.. he always has been. he makes me smile everytime, and i honestly don't know what i would do if he left my life.. so i finished the song with those feelings.

she urges me to play it, and i set the  papers on the keyboard for me to read while i play. i adjust my sitting position slightly, and play the first chord. 

Zenitsu's pov:

i don't know why nezuko wanted me to stand in the hallway outside tanjiro's room, but i guess ill stay here. i hear them talking a bit, and then i hear a piano playing. and them tanjiro.. singing? i didn't know he did that. he good though. like, REALLY good. feel my cheeks heat up, and i peek through the doorway. "what did i do to deserve you.." his hands fly over the keys, in knowing motions, as if he'd done this a million times. "I follow your steps with my feet, I walk on the road that you started, i need you to know that I heard you, every word." his voice flows through the air like honey, and it's as though i was being embraced. i've heard music, but not like this, he was putting all of his being into it. it was amazing, to see so much passion and emotion put into music. all i could do was close my eyes and listen. "I've waited way too long to say, Everything you mean to me." i see nezuko swaying gently to the song, its clear she's heard it before. "In case you don't live forever, let me tell you now, I love you more than you'll ever wrap your head around. In case you don't live forever, let me tell you the truth, I'm everything that I am because of you"

who could he be singing about? who on earth could have given someone so much emotion, to turn it into a passion this strong? whoever it is, i thank you. i could only wish to be that person, but i couldn't. i'm only a friend, and this is a song of deep love. "I, I've carried this song in my mind, Listen, it's echoing in me, But I haven't helped you to hear it. We, we've only got so much time, I'm pretty sure it would kill me, If you didn't know the pieces of me are pieces of you" tears roll down his cheeks, and my heart aches. what could have happened? he doesn't cry normally. "I've waited way too long to say, Everything you mean to me." the notes get louder, but not harsh. he just fuels all the passion he has, channeling it into the song. "In case you don't live forever, let me tell you now, I love you more than you'll ever wrap your head around. In case you don't live forever, let me tell you the truth, I'm everything that I am because of you" he's almost pounding on the keys now, but he's somehow doing it gently. "I have a hero whenever I need one, I just look up to you and I see one, I'm a man 'cause you taught me to be one." on that last notes, a shiver goes up my spine. that's when i decide to do something i might regret. i sing. 

"In case you don't live forever, let me tell you now, I love you more than you'll ever wrap your head around. In case you don't live forever, let me tell you the truth, I'm everything that I am" he jumps slightly, from the sudden interruption. i walk next to him, and we continue to sing, this time harmonizing. i hold his face in my hands,  wiping the tears from his cheeks, my own forming at the corner of my eyes. he slows down the pace, softening the notes. "in case you dont live forever, let me tell you the truth" he sings. "as long as i'm here as i am.." i say, smiling slightly. "so are you.." we both jump at the last part, as it came from nezuko. her soft voice was beautiful, just like her brothers. he set his hands in his lap, tears still rolling down his cheeks. i was crying too, but i still hugged him from behind. he leaned his head into my embrace, and nezuko comes and hugs her brother as well. we sit like that for a while, just to let the emotions slow down a bit. 

after a while, we pull back and tanjiro wipes his face. "i'm assuming you want to know who the sing was about, correct?" he says, smiling slightly. i wipe my own face off, and say: "yeah, but like, not sure you want to-" i say akwardly. he chuckles, and i smile. i'm glad to have made him smile.. "well, i'll tell you anyway. the song was about my family, and..  you. my family died a couple years ago in a shooting, nezuko and i are the only ones left in our family..." nezuko runs and hugs her brother, crying softly. "oh.. i'm so sorry.."  i say. all he does is smile. "it's ok, no need to be sorry. it couldn't have been helped.. i'm just glad we made it out." eh says, more tears forming at the edges of his eyes. he wipes them away and continues. "if anything, i should be thanking you. honestly i don't know what i would do if you left.. just being around you, no matter how much you whine, or how much you cry, it helps. the small laughs, the sleepovers, even painting nezukos room. you help us just by being here, and i can't thank you enough. it's.. always felt like there was something missing, like there was a hole in my heart. then you came. and i... " he looks up at the ceiling, still hugging nezuko. "god, i feel whole again. so thank you." he looks at me, smiling, but crying again. the tears i've been keeping dormant spill over, and i hug both him and nezuko. i.. god i love this man.
