The physician had said that it was a slight mental stress and would be gone as long as she always takes her medication but that didn’t assure her really. What kind of stress is a thirteen years old going through that she had to be mentally stressed when in reality, she’s the one with all the responsibility on her shoulders.

Her consciousness will not let her relax so she decided to confide in Aisha, her senior wife. After her narration, Aisha exclaimed, “Subhanallah! how could you go through all that emotional turmoil and keep it to yourself?” Haleemah sighed but remained quiet. She felt like a child being reprimanded by her parents and was awaiting judgment.

“I think this is a test from Allah,” Aisha continued. “And although this is just my thought, so I seek Allah’s forgiveness if I erred but I think Almighty Allah does love you which was why he tested you with your daughter to give you the opportunity to come back to him or do you have any thought aside this?”

“Of course not, Haleemah answered. Since this has happened, I’ve been steadfast in my prayers and Du’a, so your assumption is right. I was just about to leave my religion because of the little challenge I went through and he made me realize that there are even worse challenges out there. So Alhamdullillah for the guidance but what can I do to earn his forgiveness. I said a lot of bad things the other day”.

“That’s not a problem, Aisha assured. All you have to do is ask for sincere repentance as Allah has asked us to, and Insha Allah, you’ll be forgiven and maybe we can find other ways to get in touch with your friend and aunt. It might not be as bad as you thought.”

“I hope so Insha Allah and thanks for your time and words of encouragement. It really helped a lot.”

“I’m glad to have been of help Alhamdullillah”.

Baasim went back home with joy. He couldn’t believe that Allah had come to his aid when he had lost all hope. The philanthropist that he thought he has missed his chance of seeing has been brought to him just because of his little knowledge of English language when there were several people amidst the congregation who could speak better than him. Indeed Allah assists those whom he wills.

He couldn’t wait to get back home and relay the news to his father even if he couldn’t hear or communicate with him. That had never stopped him before. He’s used to informing his father of the latest developments in his life, after all, he is his silent confidant and parent. When he got home, he went straight to his father and said his greetings. His father simply acknowledged his presence by turning his head a bit from his sitting position. Baasim then noticed that the room was in disarray and he has a lot to do to make their already old room look at least tolerable.

He arranged it in happiness. He already bought some ingredients with him to prepare them a sumptuous meal and afterwards he would settle down to think of a business idea. ‘I’ll provide enough for me and father in the coming days without having to resort to begging and then, I’ll save enough money to get father treated at the hospital and then get us a better house than this Insha Allah’. He thought.

This had always been his plan since he met father. Not going to school to further his education. Although, receiving formal education was not a big deal in his community, he had attended primary school up to primary four before he had to drop out due to some circumstances which afforded him the opportunity to be among the few that could speak in English language in his community albeit poorly but at least his poor speaking earned him a lot from the Samaritan by Allah’s will of course. Otherwise, the man would have eventually found someone that could translate better than him. So, Alhamdullillah.

Muhammad on the other hand could not stop his thought from diverting to the poor boy. He might have a proud personality but he have a soft heart towards the weak. He had never suffered in his childhood or adulthood and truth be told, whenever he hears that people suffered in some part of the country, he found it hard to believe. He used to think that when they said they are poor, it only means that they might not have enough, but at least have an acceptable standard of living.

He had been to several places and gatherings to give support and those he met there usually don’t look like they really needed help. So, while he gave out to those set of people, he made sure to receive enough praises and fame in return. But this Baasim boy, however, is different. His appearance showed that his living standard is extremely poor and even at that, he was still in a hurry to go back to his home despite being in the presence of a rich man.

He didn’t think of laying out all his troubles to him to solve unlike other poor people he had met and if he hadn’t forced him to wait behind, he wouldn’t have known that his father was disabled. He was going to help him out Insha Allah and he’ll begin by finding out the boy’s address, then, help him hospitalize his father to see if his disability isn’t permanent because the boy obviously loved his dad. Then, he can continue by offering him a job.

Immediately he thought of this, he picked up his phone to make a call. He would find his location and pay them a visit. “May Allah accept it as an act of worship.” He prayed.
