A Vampire's Touch

Chapter 28 ~•One Step Closer•~

Not everyone is going to the fairies. It's only me, Ethan, Drew and two pack members.

We all pack into a car, and Drew starts to drive. I try to focus on what Drew is saying because it sounds important. But my mind is completely lost. I start to think about the war that's going to happen. All the blood that's going to be shed. The dead bodies one by one falling to their deaths.

I shake my head of the thoughts and I hold Ethan's hand. He looks at me and gives me a reassuring smile.

The car stops and I come out the car. I sniff the air and I start to cough. It's smells like smoke and dirt. I look around and see that the whole place is burnt. All the trees and plants are all dead. There is no living thing here.

"What is this place?" I gasp.

"It's the fairies land," replies Drew.

Well no wonder the fairies don't like the wolves. We start to walk towards a broken and blackened castle. The whole roof of the castle is ripped off. Some of the bricks are missing, leaving a gap in the building.

We knock on the door and it creaks open. I shiver, this reminds me of a horror movie.

We all stand glued to out spots, hesitating weather to go or not. Drew steps forward first, all of us following behind him.

We get to a big room which I can tell used to look nice. Now the place is dirty and dusty, with dead roots growing inside. There is a thorn in the middle of the room, which is the only thing that isn't ruined.

Sitting on top of the throne is a beautiful woman. She looks like she's in her mid thirties, with bright ringlets of hair. She is wearing a glowing white dress which matches the color of her skin. She has piercing grey eyes, which are scanning all of us up and down.

"Never thought that you would come back," says the lady, with a beautiful yet fierce voice.

Drew bows down to her, all of us following suite. "My Queen, we are here to discuss some matters."

The Queen laughs a monstrous laugh. "Well, I wasn't expecting you to come here to apologize."

"Actually I came here to do just that."

The Queen looks at Drew in shock, but then it's washed away with anger. "Nothing you do for me will ever repay what you have done to me and my fairies."

"I am truly sorry my Queen. I know that you will never forgive me-" Drew is cut short by the Queen.

"And you got that right."

"Please just listen to me my lady," Drew pleads.

The Queen gestures to the small cushions which are placed on the floor. "Please sit down, just looking at you guys standing makes me tired."

We listen to the Queen and we sit down. I see a fairy walk in with a tray of drinks. She passes each one to us. I grab the cold wet glass and I'm about to take a sip, when Ethan swats my arm.

"What?" I whisper yell.

"Don't drink that, didn't you hear what Drew was saying in the car?" Ethan replies.

"Uh, no."

"He said we can't trust the Queen just yet, she is mad at the wolves. You never know what she might have done to the drinks."

I place my glass down and I look up at the Queen. I realize she is staring right at me, with a menacing grin.

"Well isn't it the famous Grace Shield, and her boyfriend Ethan Grey," the Queen chimes.

"How did you know-" I say.

"I know everything little one," says the Queen. "I can see trouble in the future for both of you, you might want to leave Grace if I were you," she says to Ethan.

"I'm staying with Grace," Ethan says sternly.

"Now let's talk about why we came here," interrupts Drew. "We came here because we need your help in the war against the vampires. As you can tell they are trying to get the most power and rule the world. We need to stop them because they will kill us and you fairies as well."

"And why will I help you dogs?" The Queen spits.

The two other pack members growl at the response, but Drew just gives them a look and they stop growling.

"We will let you share our land with you fairies."

"Your land?" The Queen says in disbelief. "You disgusting dogs stole the land from us fairies!"

"I'm sorry my Queen, you will get back your land," corrects Drew.

"No deal," says the Queen.

"Pardon?" I ask.

The Queens icy glare goes towards me. "I want all my land back, no sharing."

"But-but what will we wolves do?" One of the pack members replies.

"I don't care for you wolves," the Queen answers.

I stand up from my cushion. "Deal!"

"What?" I hear Drew and Ethan say in disbelief.

The Queen smiles at me. "Now it's a deal, no going back."

"Wait! What are you doing Grace?" Asks Drew in anger.

"When we defeat the vampires you can take their land. I know what I'm doing," I say to Drew.

Drew's expression is filled with relief. I turn to Ethan and he gives me a thumbs up.

"So will you fight with us?" Drew asks the Queen.

The Queen looks at all of us, then her gaze lands on Drew. "Yes, we fairies will fight along your side with the vampires."

I feel joy spread through me. We might actually have a chance against the vampires.

"But!" The Queen interrupts my thoughts. "I need a life to take, one of you guys."

I stare in horror at the Queen. Is she crazy?

"Take me!" Ethan says.

"What? No!" I shout and grab Ethan.

"I have already picked someone," says the Queen.

"I chose you!" She points at one of the pack members. Relief swarms me, but then I feel guilty. I'm happy it's not Ethan, me or Drew. But I still feel bad for the guy who has to die.

The pack member walks slowly towards the Queen. He looks at Drew, "I'll do anything for my Alpha."

The Queen grins and raises her hand. The guy start to float in the air as the Queen moves her hand up. The guy looks horrified and scared.

I watch as the guy rises in the air. Then the Queen swings her hand to the side, as she does that the body explodes. There is blood splashing everywhere. Guts and the guys insides fly down to the floor.

I close my eyes in disgust, as the air starts to smell like a rotting body.

The Queen laughs her menacing laugh as the last drop of blood lands on her tongue.
