Narcissa Malfoy was paying a visit to the Healer. She had been feeling off, and Lucius had insisted she get a professional opinion. He may not be a great man, but he cared for his wife.
"Well Mrs. Malfoy, I have some shocking news," the Healer stated. This made Narcissa a bit uneasy. What could be so strange that it surprised a Healer? "You're pregnant. Are you alright with this?" asked the Healer, who seemed to be a bit afraid. No, it's not possible, Narcissa thought. She had been told by dozens of Healers before that she could never have children.
"Mrs. Malfoy? Is this good news?"
"Yes, I suppose it is. Is the baby healthy?" Surely there was something wrong. There was no way that she could have a perfectly healthy child.
"Well, that's just it," the Healer said nervously.
Narcissa knew it. Her baby would not survive. "Well what's wrong with it?"
"N-nothing, ma'am. It's only that there is not only one baby. You are carrying a healthy set of fraternal twins."
Twins? Narcissa was not prepared for this news. As happy as she was to finally get the opportunity to be a mother, she was scared. Two babies meant double the work, and Lucius would certainly not provide much help or comfort. An aid would need to be hired, a nursery would need to be made, clothes, food, and countless other worries flooded Narcissa's head. And time! She had less than nine months to prepare for two new children! However would she manage?
"How far along are my children?" She needed as much time as possible to prepare for her children to experience the world.
"You're around 9 weeks, Mrs. Malfoy." The Healer was becoming more relaxed at the realization that she was not delivering bad news to Narcissa Malfoy.
Nine weeks. She had been carrying her two children for two months without knowing.
"Is that all?" Narcissa wanted to get back to Malfoy Manor. She had been away for just over 3 hours, and did not want to keep Lucius waiting for much longer. He would come to his own conclusions about why she had been gone so long if she did not get home soon.
"Yes, I believe so. If you would like, you can find out the genders of your twins at about 20 weeks, so around three months from now. It would be beneficial to have an appointment each month until then."
Narcissa left the Healer and apparated home.

Lucius was waiting in the parlor when Narcissa arrived back at the Manor.
"What did the healer say, my love?"
She wasn't ready to tell her husband the news just yet, so she lied to him, saying she just had a simple bug. Satisfied with her answer, Lucius nodded and left the room. Unable to keep her secret completely, Narcissa called for a house elf named Dobby. She quietly told Dobby her news, and ordered him to find a room for the children's nursery.

Today was the day Narcissa and Lucius would find out the gender of their children. She had told Lucius about her pregnancy a few days after she found out. He had not expressed much emotion regarding his unborn children, but Narcissa could tell that he was looking forward to being a father. While Lucius was hoping for a pair of twin boys, Narcissa was secretly wishing for a daughter. She had always envisioned herself raising a beautiful girl, and now it may finally be a reality.
The same Healer who had discovered the pregnancy now entered the room, holding a piece of parchment.
"Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy, I have the genders of your two children here. I will leave this document with you, and you may do with it what you wish."
As soon as the Healer left, Lucius snatched the parchment from the table it had been left on. He looked over it, his eyes giving away the emotion that his face never did. He was disappointed.
"We're having a boy," he said. This was good, Narcissa thought. Lucius could have his wish of raising a strong son.
"And the other?" Narcissa asked, desperately hoping for it to be a girl.
"A girl." Lucius said, with a tone of boredom and slight disgust. Narcissa, however, was trying to contain her excitement. She was having a son and a daughter. The perfect combination. She only worried that Lucius would not love their daughter as he would their son.

It was happening. Narcissa and Lucius rushed to the Healer, and had their two children within the hour. Both of the babies were healthy and beautiful, the boy with white blond hair, and the girl's a darker blond. Narcissa knew what their names would be immediately. The boy would be called Draco, an illusion to the strength and wit of a dragon. The girl would be known as Mary. A seemingly simple name, but with many great attributes. A great number of powerful women have been called Mary, and Narcissa could only hope for the same fate for her daughter.
