There's a rumour going around, "Hey, have you seen the girl who always goes to the rooftop whenever the moon rises? Her old friends said that 'whenever she is like that, she misses or either loves someone.' Don't you think thats kinda sad? Not having someone to talk to..."
That girl they are talking about is me, catherine, Im a first year.
I was so shocked when i heared these rumours cause it sounded familiar to me i thought to myself, "no one goes to the rooftop except me, is it me they're talking about?" I wondered.
And yep i was right it was because of my old friends they posted it on social media i guess, they like to tease or either bully me but i got used to it. And if you're wondering if im a loner, then yes you guessed right, i pushed people who tries getting close to me or wanting to earn my trust, its not that im not a nice person its just my heart has been broken into pieces so much that i dont even know if i can trust someone anymore but of course i know, not everyone's the same but im just not sure. Or so i thought.
It was monday morning when i met him. My first friend i truly trusted.
"Hey!! Do you go to karasuno high too?", he said "uhm...Yea i do." I replied.
I walked away as soon as i saw his eyes, his eyes looked like i was a target to him or maybe he just wanted a friend...but other than that he looked so confused, kind of fascinating to see in the morning.
I was glad i didnt see him in school or maybe he was a 3rd year, he looked so tall
Then the moon rised, i went to the rooftop as usual then there, the first time i see another person going to the rooftop other than me i sat next to him at the bench not saying anything, "Wait a minute, weren't you the girl who ran off from me in the morning?", he said, i got startled at the first few seconds then i replied back, "U-uhm..Yea t-that was me, im sorry if i made it look like i hated talking to someone.."
"Oh no no its fine! I understand, but are you the girl who they always talk about?"
As he said those words I thought to myself, "ill get bullied again huh. Oh well-,"
"Yea i am, you gonna bully me or tease me or something? Cause go ahead. I dont care what you say about me."
"haaah??! Why would i do that?"
"Eh? But i thought you think of me as a dramatic girl or something like that??"
"No way, you seem like a nice person to me thats why i went up here and waited for you. I wanted to get close to you."
"W-what there's no way..is this some kind of prank?"
"No i mean it. So what do you say friends or no?"
"If you wont break my heart, trust for you and if you wont ever leave me then, yes ill be your friend."

After that day, we always would hangout at the rooftop, go home together, eat meals together, we were in our own world no one could stop us.
Oh i forgot to mention but he introduced himself, "Cath, i forgot to tell you this but i havent told you my name right?"
"Hmm? Oh yea what's your name?"
"Tsukishima, tsukishima kei."
"you do have a nice name, kei."
"Eeekk cath called me keiii my hearts been filled."
"oh shut up ahahahhaa"
"Hahahahahaha"
"Oh by the way cath what's your full name?"
"Oh its, Catherine michelle C. Feyerabend."
"!!! such a long name!"
"Well i didnt come from japan, i came from the philippines but my parents had to work here so me and my brother went with our parents."
"Wow really? I wonder what's philippines like."
"Hahaha, we can go visit there if you would want."
"Really!?? You'll really do that for me?"
"Yes, kei you've been my first friend you lasted 4 months already and my other friends old lasted 3 weeks, they say im too boring and stuff."
"Well, i think you're not and moonlight, can i call you that?"
"Huh? Why what's the reason?"
"You always seem to watch the moon when it rises and you love the moon, so moonlight."
"Hehe, yea sure its fine go ahead call me moonlight."
"Yeyy! Moonlight?"
"Yes, kei?"
"Hehe, yep i like the sound of me calling you moonlight."
And on my journey with kei i felt so safe with him like as if nothing's around us, and without even noticing i caught feelings for him. I knew it was a bad idea but i couldnt help it, he was so nice, caring and kind sometimes he can be goofy too.
There's another popular topic in school,
"There's going to be a festival next week! Have you heard of it??"
This time, i'll confess to kei, in the festival 6:00 where the fireworks go off, "I love you, kei."
"Moonlight!"
"Yes, kei?"
"You goin' to the festival next week?"
"If you'll go, i'll go."
"Then its decided, lets go together 'kay?"
"Sure, kei."
Im so excited for next week, maybe i'll smile for him, hehe for the first time i wanna show someone my smile...

I hope moonlight isn't mad!!"

"Moonlight?"
"Kei, over here!!!"
"Oh hey moonlight! Woah you look se- I-i mean..cute..."
"Heh, thanks kei you look handsome too."
"T-then lets go?"
"To where?"
"Lets find a good place to watch the fireworks, okay moonlight?"
"Sure, kei."
We found a goodspot to watch the fireworks where there weren't people too. We waited and chatted for a while laughing as if it was the best day ever! I was getting ready, 5:59 pm.
"Kei, i have something to tell you."
"Hmm? What is it moonlight?"
"6:00, kei, i love you."

"W-what.."
"So, whats your answer kei tsukishima?"
"Moonlight, catherine. I love you too."
After that day everyday is like a loop, its like the best day forever.
Until the day kei stopped going to school, his family says he's sick and they wouldnt let me visit him cause they're worried for my health, the teachers says the same thing but i always have a suspicion they are hiding something from me and i couldnt hold back anymore. I went to the hospital found kei, his hair is falling, his body is getting thinner.
And Before i knew it my love of my life had been fighting cancer.
"W-why...?
why hide it from me..? Say, kei why..?"
"Moonlight...i-im sorry. I didn't have the courage to tell you. Im sorry moonlight..im sorry."
"N-no...! I should be the one who's saying sorry, i just thought you were okay, Having fun everyday while you were hurting, fighting cancer...im sorry kei, im sorry i coulndt make you happy..i was such a fool..."
"Moonlight,,...you dont need to be sorry. Im fine, now c'mere and give me a hug."
"K-kei..."
When he said that, i hugged him and never let go but my heart broke into pieces when he said this,
"Moonlight, the doctors said that 'tsukishima, you only have 2 more hours to live.' promise to never forget me, 'kay moonlight?"
"....you liar...."
"H-huh...? Moonlight?"
"You said you'd never break my heart into peices nor leave me.
But what is this? You dying in two hours. The thought of you leaving me is.....annoying. I hate it. I hate it so much. I knew i shouldnt have trusted anyone."
"M-moonlight..im sorry you have to go through all this."
"Sorry isn't gonna cut it, tsukishima kei.
If you could have told me sooner, i wouldnt be regretting this. Though i have no rights to be mad. I cant fix what can't be fixed."
"Moonlight, im sorry for the last time just dont forget about me okay?"
"how could i forget you kei? You're literally my whole world."
"This is making me mad too, y'know moonlight ugh i wanted to marry you, have kids, and live happily. But we cant always have what we want."
"Then don't say it like you're going to die already dumbass!!"
"Hahahaha, i love you moonlight."
"Hmph! Love you too kei."
1 year later,
Kei died. It was a hard time but i got over it sooner. Its kei's 1st death year anniversary. I went to his grave and talked until the moon rised.
"The moon reminds me of you, kei.
Your last words was 'tsuki ga kirei desu ne?' I didnt understand it much because im not that fluent in japanese, but over time i learned about japanese and your words broke me into pieces. 'the moon is beautiful isn't it?' They all say thats a way japanese people like to confess their love to you.
I miss you, kei tsukishima. I hope you're happy. Sayonara."
