Violet Richards sits across from her friend, Katherine Bushard. As she moves, her injured shoulder throbs, "Another day, another near-death experience," She mutters, mostly to herself. She looks up at Kate, "How much longer do we have to keep up like this?"
Kate shrugs playfully and smirks at her friend, "Hey, the quest was your idea, not mine." She defends.
Violet is silent for a few seconds before asking, "You ever wonder what it would be like if we were... normal?"
Kate is about to answer, when the other member of their quest, Noah Bullock appears out of nowhere. "It would be boring." He responds matter-of-factly.
Kate falls backward in her chair with an exclamation of surprise, earning a smirk from Noah.
He continues, "Honestly, if I go a day without killing something, it's an unfulfilling day." He smirks at the girls.
Violet scowls. By this point, she's used to Noah's pranks, but they're annoying nonetheless. "Stop doing that." She growls through gritted teeth.
Noah smiles at her, "Hey, you can't blame me for wanting to have some fun every once in a while."
"Unless you want to look like a pincushion, stop it." Violet seethes.
Noah throws up his hands in mock surrender, "Cool down, Bullseye."
Violet's usually colorless face turned bright red in a blush of anger. "Call me that again, I DARE YOU." She stands and tries to hit Noah.
Kate pushes the two apart. "Stop it, both of you!" She screams at them, "We have enough problems without you two bickering all the time."
Noah glares at Violet before reluctantly sitting next to Kate
"We need a plan for what to do next," Kate says.
"We've been doing this for weeks," Noah grumbles, "We have no leads."
Violet sighs, tracing a pattern on the table with her finger. She looks up at Kate and Noah, "Maybe... we should call it quits and just go home."
Kate sits bolt upright, "No! We have to-"
A waitress with thick dark curls interrupts her, "Can I get you guys anything?" She asks with a sweet smile.
"Just a coffee." Kate sighs, almost dejectedly.
"Same here," Noah adds.
"We need some fries to share." Violet adds, "I'm starving."
Noah smirks, "Make it two orders, we've seen Kate eat."
"Is that all?" The waitress asks, taking a few notes on a paper.
"Yes, thank you." Kate turns back to Noah and Violet as the waitress leaves, "As I was saying, we can't quit until we find whatever is causing this.:
Violet sighs, defeat on her face, "Half of the Olympian Council could not compete against it. How can we hope to?"
Noah sighs, suddenly being serious for once, "I'm with Kate, whatever it is, it has to be stopped."
"Did you even hear what I just said? Violet snaps.
"This is what we're supposed to do." Noah retorts.
Violet stands, "Well, I don't want to die, thank you very much." She makes her way toward the door, "I'll be going, now."
Kate's eyes widen as her friend leaves the restaurant. "Violet! Wait!"
Noah pushes her gently back into her seat, "Let me talk to her." He says as he follows Violet out the door. He catches up to her and grabs her shoulder, "violet, hang on."
