I just realized that I joined wattpad on Friday the 13th. Creepy. I love to write, I love learning the craft of writing fiction, and I love helping people write. What else can I say? :-) I've sold some short stories, but I'm not a professional writer. I was also paid to write scripts for comics. That was awesome because, besides developing the plot, characters, and dialogue, you need to describe each panel to the artist. Talk about writing description. And when I write, I love to make readers turn the page at the end of a chapter. With comics, the last panel of each page should be a cliffhanger, you know, an "OMG what's going to happen!" so they turn the page. I never wrote a screenplay, but comic scripts seem more like a screenplay than a novel or short story. And like every writer, I have a 70,000-plus word novel that I've been revising forever. :P

@JohnGunningham No red roses. He came home to a cold dinner and no wife. Well, the dying flowers the wife put on the table were there.
@Blayde Thanks for the response! I hadn't thought of ezines, I'll have to see if I can find any that deal with speculative fiction :) And write more... need to do that too haha. Valentines day is kind of overrated anyway... still though, that's pretty rough for the guy to get home late (he was probably just trying to provide for his family!) and find out his wife cheated on him. I can just picture a sad guy with a dozen red roses falling out of his hand in disbelief. Hah! John!
@JohnGunningham I sold short stories to online magazines. I think they're called ezines. For example, I saw a request for submissions from a woman's ezine for their Valentine's Day issue. I wrote an anti-Valentine's Day story and they published it. The wife was planning a special dinner for their anniversary. The husband worked late. The wife went out and got drunk and slept with a guy. Not your typical Valentine's Day story, but I guess they thought it would be funny or something. Anyway, that's how I sold short stories. I used Google to find requests for submissions. I haven't done that in a while
Hey, found you through some advice you gave someone else. Just curious where you find sales for your short stories. I'm submitting to magazines right now (so far nothing, but it's still early!) but I realize there could be anthologies or other places as well. Seems short story writers don't have a ton of places to sell their work, but maybe I'm wrong. Also, cool on the comic work! I've done some comic writing before and it is definitely different from short story or novel. Space and the concept of letting the artist tell part of the story was hard for me to figure out at first. John!
Please help me share and like this photo. I badly need your help. ♥ xx https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=597303833613535&set=a.597303206946931.1073741832.227570227253566&type=1&theater
Okay, so I have this weird habit of checking out the wattpad profile of someone if I like their one of their books (Hopefully I can find other good books that way). I'm glad that I walked (wattpad-stalked) you :) I know I sound weird... whatever.
@JakiaB Did you ever see the movie "Swing Vote" with Kevin Costner and Madeline Carroll? At the end, Kevin Kostner went into the voting booth to cast his vote (his vote would decide who became president). That's how it ended. You have no idea who he voted for. But that wasn't important to the story. What was important was that he finally took voting serious and he voted, and the proud look on his dauther's face when he did. That's what the story was about, not who won the election. And that wasn't even a short story.
