As weeks went by settling into June, our connection grew more and more. You really don't know how much a connection can build with someone once spending countless hours with them. When I was walking through the halls one day, I got a text from Giovanni.

"Is it cool if we meet up later to talk?"
"Yeah, that's fine".

I thought everything was fine at the time, but after this conversation, it made me question a lot of things. Ninth period came around, and both Gio and I were off that period. When I met him at the music wing, he asked me

"How's everything with Ayala was going".

"Good????, why?".

"That's good, I just want you to be happy and safe", he responded.

"Um, is everything good Gio?".

He stood there for a few minutes not saying anything but looking at me.

"I need to tell you something".

"What is it?'.

"Don't get mad", he said.

"I won't just tell me".

"Okay, are you and her together?".

Mind you, she and I didn't want to tell anyone anything yet until we were in a good place.

"We're getting there, why?".

What he told me next made me question our friendship.

"A few weeks ago, she and I messed around a little during the break".

I just stood there speechless. At that moment, I pretended not to care just to hear the rest of the bullshit he had to say.

"Alright, and you're telling me this because....", I said irritated.

"I wanted to know if it were okay if I invited her over to my place tonight".

All the shit that was running through my head was just too much for me to focus on at that moment.

"Uhhh, it's her choice not mine", I said lying to myself.

The bell rang, ending school.

"Okay, so I'll ask her later", he said while I walked away.

I didn't know whether to wait for Ayala at her locker or get in my car to go home. I didn't want to be an asshole, so I went to her locker, but Gio already beat me to it. They were talking and laughing as I was just standing there a few feet away. When she made eye contact with me, I walked away. Once I got outside into my car, I heard her yelling my name chasing after me. When she knocked on the passenger side of my car, I couldn't look her in the eyes.

"What's wrong, please open the door".

I really couldn't function at that moment, so I backed up slowly and drove away, leaving her in the background. Once I got home, it was just absolute silence. I just collapsed in my bed wanting to forget what Gio told me. All I heard hours later was my phone buzzing, my screen filling up with texts and missed calls from Ayala. Nighttime finally appeared and my parents wouldn't be home for another few hours from work. Doing my homework in my room, I hear something at my window. Someone is literally throwing rocks at my window, saying my name over and over again. When I finally reveal the curtains, I see it's Ayala.

"What are you doing here?"

"Can you open your door so we can talk please?"

I opened the door and we sat in my living room.

"Why did you leave like that today?", she said.

"I had something to do''.

She raised her pinky indicating if I promised that. I pushed her hand down and said,
