The following morning, Y/n grabbed Kili's hand and dragged him outside, where Smaug was waiting in the rising sunlight.
"Y/n, what are we doing?" Kili laughed softly.
"Just come on!" Y/n grinned. Kili rolled his eyes and followed her to the dragon. Smaug lowered himself to the ground, and Y/n climbed on at the base of his neck. She held her hand out to Kili, who raised an eyebrow.
"Thought you were afraid of heights."
"Touché, but get on the dragon! It'll be fun!" Kili shook his head and grabbed her hand. He took a seat right behind her and held her waist. Even after all they'd been through, Y/n still blushed at that.
"Hang on," Smaug said.
"Let's go!" Y/n exclaimed as Smaug took off into the blue sky.
We're too far out we're in too deep
And we've got miles to go before we can sleep
I said, we've been walking a thin line
You've got one hand on the devil baby and one hand in mine
But don't let go no it's not too late you know
Smaug flew over Erebor and Dale, with people looking up in awe as the dragon flew overhead. Several children cheered for the majestic being. Many of the adults waved up at them with smiles on their faces. Y/n and Kili waved back as they heard the cheers of the children.
Hold on we're gonna make it if it takes all night
Hearts racing like a rocket at the speed of light
Don't fight it we've been running for far too long
We're going back where we belong
So hold on we got our wings and we're chasing the wind

Smaug soared over the destroyed city of Laketown and over the weren't waters. The small waves glittered in the sunlight, and Kili found himself not looking at the water, but at the beautiful girl in front of him. With a smile on his face, he kissed her cheek, causing her to grin.
"You're beautiful, Amrâlimê."
"Awwe thanks, Kee," Y/n laughed softly. Kili held her closer, resting his head on her shoulder.
So we'll build temples in our heads
When we've grown frail and all our bones are of lead
We've been walking a winding road
Let's go, no footsteps to follow baby and no signs to guide us home

Smaug soared over the Mirkwood forest, where they looked down and saw Legolas and Tauriel. Legolas was the first to see Smaug, so he tapped Tauriel on the shoulder, pointing up to the sky as Smaug flew over the trees.

Next was Brown's farm. Been was out chopping wood when he saw a shadow cross the ground. He glanced up and smiled to the girl and the dwarf atop the dragon's back and waved. Y/n smiled and waved back.
"Thank you for everything!" Y/n yelled down to him.
"You're welcome!" Beorn called back.
See I have to believe that there's more than this seems
More than a soul in a boat in a sea of sinking dreams
And I have to be sure that there's gonna be a cure
'cause somewhere down the line, I lost that part of me that's pure
The hillside where they escaped the goblin cave passed underneath them, and Y/n remembered what happened. That was where she discovered her powers for the first time. Smiling softly, she felt Kili hold her closer.
"You okay, Kili?"
"Yeah, just happy. I'm so glad to have you. And this is amazing," he replied.
"Thought you'd like it."
But don't you let go yet no it's not too late you know

Over Rivendell, over the troll statues, over the Shire. Kili was enchanted to see all the places they went again. It was magical, and he wouldn't want to be anywhere else than with the love of his life in the world he loved so much. He was so grateful he had met Y/n. She brought out the best in him, and he loved that.
As Smaug flew back to the mountain, the two caught a sight that was completely outstanding. The sun now covered the land, causing everything to seem more magical than before. The sunlight cast a golden glow in the trees and grass, and it made Y/n realize that she made the right choice.

When Smaug landed back at Erebor, Kili slid off, and helped Y/n off as well. They both had huge smiles on their faces as Kili spun her around.
"That was amazing!" Kili exclaimed. "Thank you, Amrâlimê!"
"Of course, Kili. You deserve it."
"Not as much as I deserve you."
Y/n laughed. "Awwwe, you're adorable."
"I know."
"Humble, much?" Y/n asked.
"Quite," he stated. "So, are you happy you came back?"
"Yes, I am. I am right where I belong."
We're going back where we belong
