Chapter Forty-Two: Soul Takers

To say that the mystic souls were relieved when the Weasley family left was the understatement of the century. They basically threw a giant part once they were gone and they were finally able to freely use their powers again.

The first thing Krinos did was go right to the greenhouse with Lily and they spent an entire afternoon placing protective enchantments on every plant in the place. The same could be said for what Melody and Angel did to the music room as well as Harry and Sofia getting a new magic lock for the stables. They were not going to take any risks if another person like Ginny or Ron ever showed up and wanted what was at Crystal Rose.

They always took thievery seriously, but now they were going to take it a lot more seriously than they did before.

The trio did finally decide that at some point in their third year, they were going to tell their friends that they were mystic souls. They had been discussing it since they first became friends with all of them. The real trigger for their decision was Fred and George giving Harry the magical map that they had. It was something that was probably very important to them. So them giving such a valuable object to him said a lot about their trust in Harry and how much they cared for Harry.

The map itself was also quite a brilliant piece of magic, even to mystic souls. Being able to track everyone's whereabouts in Hogwarts, even the ghosts and animals, was incredible. They had no idea who the Mauraders were, other than really successful pranksters according to the Weasley Twins, but they were probably great witches/wizards of their time.

They knew those like Oliver and Luna would take a little longer for them to tell. But that is more because they need to get to know them more. Oliver was a great captain and was becoming somewhat of a big brother figure to them, but they needed to know more of a personal level than a protective Quidditch captain. And they also had not known Luna for as long as they had known the others.

So they knew for sure that Fred, George, Percy, Neville, and Cedric would be told at some point in the year.

But as September first approached, there was also an aura of worry around the trio and their friends. The news alert about the escaped prisoner, Sirius Black, was like a dark cloud over their heads. They knew he was still in Britain, or they would have gotten another alert from somewhere else in the continent if he had been spotted anywhere else, so that meant the trio was going back to the country that he escaped into out of prison.

Now, the three did not know a lot about Azkaban. They knew that it was the most well-known, and probably only, prison in magical Britain. A lot of dangerous Death Eaters had been locked up there after the war that had taken the lives of Harry's birth parents. And a lot were there for serious crimes. Like Bellatrix, Rodolphus, and Rabastan Lestrange, who were there for the murder of countless people as well as torturing Neville's parents into insanity. There is also Antonin Dolohov, who was in for murdering Fred, George, Percy, and Charlie's uncles, Fabian and Gideon Prewett.

In magical Greece, there were four main prisons. The first two were known as Styx and Acheron, named after two of the rivers in the Underworld. Styx, the river of hatred that the gods are known to make oaths and vows over. Acheron, the river of misery where all hopelessness is found. They were the lower-level prisons, the Styx for woman prisoners and Acheron for male prisoners. They were meant to hold those that were arrested for small things like theft, breaking and entering, shoplifting, and accidental manslaughter.

The next prison was Asphodel, named after the Asphodel Medows of the Underworld. In the Underworld, it is the place where souls go when they have not committed any crimes bad enough for the Fields of Punishment but also did not do anything great enough to go to the Elysian Fields. But for the prison, it is where criminals guilty of medium crimes go. Like assault, kidnapping, abduction, arson, or assistant suicide.
