Katya looked down at her phone, it had been years since the name Trixie had appeared in her contacts. It felt right somehow to see her there again.

Trixie: I'll be there in 5, sorry for the delay.

Katya: No problem, anything I can get you?

Trixie: A pink lemonade and maybe some sort of paistry would be great, but don't feel pressured.

Katya: It's no bother, I'll make sure to get it for you🙂

When Trixie finally arrived at the café Katya had already managed to get her the lemonade and a croissant. Katya stared at Trixie in awe when she saw her outfit. She was dressed in white boots, a white shirt, a yellow pinafore dress and she had on her round white glasses, which Katya hadn't seen her wear since they were teenagers.

"I'm so sorry for being so late. I got something in my contact, it seriously felt like I had chili in my eyes or something." Trixie explained as she sat down.

"Ah, that explains the glasses, haven't seen you with those in a while." Katya said, chuckling a little.

"Yeah, you know me, glasses were never the first choice." Trixie said, laughing a little. The noise made Katya smile, it had been so long since they'd been able to laugh together.

She couldn't help but think about what Trixie said tho.

"you know me"

Did she?
Did she really know Trixie at all anymore?

"Thanks for ordering for me, what do I owe you?" Trixie said sweetly as she reached for her tiny backpack.
Katya placed a hand on the Barbiegirl's shoulder.

"Don't worry about it, it's on me." She said with a soft smile before removing her hand again.

"Kat, you don't have to.."

"Seriously, it's no bother." Katya insisted.

"Okay, thank you so much." Trixie replied as she finally took a sip of her drink, smiling at the freshness of the beverage.

"So, how's everything? How are Val and Sam?" Katya asked, trying her best to keep the conversation going to avoid a repeat of the previous night's awkwardness.

"They're good, they moved back to Milwaukee after my original contract ended." Trixie said, taking a bite of the croissant and sighing happily. "This is delicious." She added.

"Glad you like it. But what about you then, where in the world are you? Nashville still?" Katya asked.

"Nah, I moved out to LA when I switched labels. It just ended up being more practical. Doesn't really feel like home tho."

"No? What is then, Milwaukee?" Katya asked, confused about why Trixie wouldn't just move with her mom and sister if that was the case.

"No, honestly nothing has felt like home since I moved away from here." Trixie said honestly.

Katya was surprised at the statement. Trixie was after all not from Marlborough, so she couldn't help but hope that Trixie's definition of the town as "home" had something to do with her.
