2. I am from

I am from

(From Marji's, a character from Persepolis, perspective)

I am from Revolutions and violence,

Rebellions and silence.

Illegal cigarettes, wines and burgers,

Punishments which ends in murders.

I am from shameless mothers,

And daily news filled with martyrs.

Where beating ourselves show signs of strength,

Sneaking over 10 foots of fence.

I am from eyes filled with tears,

Happiness forbidden and replaced with fear.

I am from golden keys to paradise,

Living our live through the next sunrise.

Flying from the force of bomb,

Or dancing along the national song.

A/N: I wrote this for a literature project and if you know who the author of the graphic novel is, you'll know that this poem have a similar style to the one she wrote. It's done on purpose.
