"What are you doing?"

Billie paused to look up at Klaus, butt already planted on the floor, cardigan off and laid on the largely sloped grassy plain. Her face was bemused as she met his eyes, hands out in puzzlement. "What? No way I'm coming with you guys in the middle of a werewolf camp who, not to mention, you're planning on turning half vampire."

"And if you happened not to notice, I'm startlingly human. I do look like quite a snack, if I may say so myself." She shamelessly complemented herself, steadily getting more comfortable on the soft, meadow like ground, the view of Appalachia ahead of her.

The hybrid shared an exhausted look with Stefan, almost pleading with his gaze to get her to comply, not currently in the mood for her sass. The Salvatore boy just shrugged his shoulders as best he could with a dead werewolf slung over his back, turning around as he saluted Harper in goodbye and continued up the slope of the grassy Smoky Mountains.

Billie smiled smugly at the victory, laying fully down on the light blouse and pulling her sunglasses fully up her nose to block out the searing sun. "Besides Klausy darling, I'd rather get a bit of a tan." She shifted her head backwards just a little bit from the soft ground to look at him once more, finding him standing like Cara used to when she'd catch a glimpse of her messy  room. Hands sternly planted on hips and lips pursed. It only made her smile wider at the sight. "I'll come find you when the sun goes down." Harper laughed humorously to herself in excitement. "I've always wanted to do a Tarzan yell in the middle of a forest."

Nik smiled slightly, shaking his head as he walked backwards up the slope for a moment. "Don't get up to any funny business , you hear?" He turned back, following Stefan into the shade of the treeline where they would find Ray's pack.

She scoffed quietly, closing her eyes and beginning to relax, imagining she was on a beach somewhere in Mexico, drinking tequila from a coconut, surrounded by beautiful Hispanic men and a mariachi band. "Yeah, alright mom."

The hours passed by easy enough, music drumming in her ears and a pack of cigarettes in her bag. When David Bowie started playing through her ears, she couldn't help but smile softly to herself, tying so many different memories back to his songs. Billie was actually enjoying herself, the peace and quiet she had craved ever since she'd left Virginia greeted her spectacularly in Appalachia. The good view didn't hurt either.

By now the sun was getting lower in the sky, painting a plethora of hues across the world above and the breeze picking up at her height, but she stayed where she was, appreciating every moment of this place. She should be heading back to Klaus soon, she thought sadly, reluctant to leave her temporary paradise.

What if she just never went back. Hiked all the way back down the mountain and into some random town to set up a new life. Forget about the hybrid and his ridiculous odyssey. Take a new name and become a different person. Billie had found herself thinking of similar scenarios multiple times over the past three months. They brought her fleeting moments of joy, despite how bizarrely unrealistic they were.

Billie knew Katherine's story. She ran to save her own life and Klaus murdered everyone she loved because of it, and then proceeded to chase her across the globe for the next five centuries straight. Harper didn't want that. But what kind of life was this in comparison?

No, she had to stop thinking about it like that. Billie had to stay with Klaus. She thought of  her Aunt Georgie, just trying her best to make it through hospital life and keep herself afloat. Alex, at the very beginning of his life. Her parents... well they weren't on good terms in the slightest but Billie guessed if they wanted to become multi billionaires then they should be allowed live long enough to do so.
