My Ex, My Boss

I walk into the building with my bag in one hand, and coffee in the other. I've been out for a week because I got a stomach bug, so I have a lot of work to do.
"Courtney"
My friend Bridgette taps my shoulder,
"Yeah?" I ask,
"So.. we have a new boss, Mr. Nelson had quit," she explains,
"Awe, that's too bad, he was a nice guy" I say,
"Yeah.. but before he left, his old secretary had quit, so he then put one of his friends' son as manager.. he also made you the new secretary."
I lift my eyebrows,
"So.. the new manager is.. well.."
I follow her to the manager's office,
"Well what?" I ask,
She opens the door and I sit on the chair that's infront of the main desk.
"He'll be here in a minute"
I nod before she leaves, but then she looks at me,
"Please be professional"
I nod again before she leaves.

I hear the door open, I look behind me and quickly look away,
"I saw you look at me, princess" he whispers to me.

"Why? Out of all people him!?"

"So.. you're my new secretary.. what are the odds?"
"I'll tell you the odds, why are you working here!? And as a manager for LAW ENFORCEMENT!!"
he just smirks,
"My dad's friend asked me to, because all my other brothers have jobs but me" he explains,
"What about Gia?" I ask,
"Moved away, face it princess, I'm your boss, and get to tell you what to do" he smirks,
"This is going to be so much fun."
I growl before turning to the secretary desk, not the far from Duncan's desk, but hey, not that close.
"Look, don't talk to me unless it's work involved,"
"With that tight skirt, I may have to restrain myself."
I groan before looking down at the documents, I then see a date for tonight at six where he has a meeting,
"You have a meeting with someone name.. Shawn Miller at six tonight"
"Cool.."
I roll my eyes and continue the documents.
I know what you're wondering, why don't you like Duncan? Well long story short, we used to date, after a year, I caught him in bed with my ex friend Gwen. After he broke up with me, I haven't talked to both since. But here he is. As my BOSS. I know I'm going to hate this!

I finish documents and look down at my phone, to see a message from my boyfriend.

Trent: hey babe, doing anything tonight?

Me: just the usual, work, extra work, nothing less nothing more

Trent: oh, typical, I'm going out with Gwen

Me: IDFC!

Trent: still hate her? She's willing to be friends with you

Me: IDGAF!

Trent: so what's new?

Me: my Fucking Ex is my boss!

Trent: Duncan? 😂😂🤣🤣🤣

Me: Fuck you!

Trent: sorry.. but, maybe this is a time to make up

Me: Fuck that! I got to go. Talk later

Trent: cool. Love you

Me: Love you too 💘

"Who's that?" Duncan asks,
"Non if your concern"
He glares at me before doing some paperwork. He then looks at me,
"Do me a favor, get me a coffee?"
"Get it-"
"Get it for you're fired"
I glare at him before getting up,
"Thanks, babe"
"Whatever."
I close the door and grab my bag and walk to Bridgette's office,
"Want anything on my coffee run?" I ask,
"You know my order,"
I roll my eyes,
"I'll get Geoff something too"
