"Well now what do we do?" Harry asked looking around cluelessly. He had gone back in time before but only once, and that time they had a plan - to save sirius.
"Well first we check the date" Hermione explained, calm as always "I'll go check the newspaper in one of these shops" She said hurrying off into a shop nearby
"Harry?" Ginny asked, looking at her boyfriend sadly
Harry looked at the redhead fondly, he had memoriesed every detail of her face by now, from her eyes to her many freckles. "Mm?"
"What if we never get home" She questioned
"We will" he assured her, smiling reassuringly
"Well just say were stuck-" She began but harry cut her off by kissing her and staying there for a few seconds
"then were stuck together, with ron and hermione" He said
"Ok lovebirds just because ive given you-" Ron started angrily.
"i dont give a shit about your permission ronald" Ginny snapped and Ron was about to retort something probably rude when hermione came and saved harry from the inevitable argument
"Guys stop bickering!" She said, returning with a newspaper
"Well?" Ron asked expectantly, looking at the paper with curiosity
"Its August 31st, 1976" Hermione said, eyes widening and skimming over the words again, making sure she read them right
"Thats over 20 years ago!" Ginny gasped, looking around the place. She technically wasn't alive yet, and charlie was still a baby. "What do we do?"
"go to dumbledore" Harry said automatically, smiling at the thought of his ex-headmaster
"but Dumbledores-" Hermione began sympathetically
"Not in 1976 he's not" He said, his emerald eyes gleaming with excitement
"Ok.. but we cant exactly walk into hogwarts" Hermione stated which made everyone think. She had made a valid point, and their would be extra security with the war going on.
"Well the express leaves tomorrow, which means we can use the invisibility cloak to hide on the train" Ron said eventually, as though it was the most obvious thing in the world
"Brilliant" Hermione said "since when were you so smart?"
"But where do we stay tonight?" Ginny asked curiously.
"I saw an inn at the village, we'll stay there and then we'll get a taxi to london tomorrow" Hermione explained
"And how we gonna pay?" Ron asked
"I have some muggle money in my pocket" She said, taking out some notes and coins.
When they arrived at the inn, an old, bald man with a walking stick called David, lead them up to a room with two beds and a bathroom. It was smaller and slightly more run down than the rooms at the leaky cauldron, but it would do for the night.
David was nice as well, he even offered them free breakfast tomorrow before they left for london.
Everyone said their goodnights and harry turned all the lights off before climbing into bed and wrapping his arms around Ginny, all of them falling into a dreamless sleep within seconds...
