Chapter Five | Our Easter — 11th April 2020

"Harry, are you ready?" Madeleine asked as she set up the camera and got the children dressed for the Easter film that her family was filming in Sweden for Easter Day.

"I'm ready." Harry answered, entering the room and picking up Archie, who looked more like him than himself these days.

"Dada." Archie squealed as Harry tickled him.

"Are we speaking in English or Swedish?" Harry asked.

"Both, which ever you're more comfortable with." Madeleine answered as she adjusted the camera.

"Is the lighting in here good?" Harry asked.

"It's a little dim on your side but we'll make do with what we have." Madeleine replied as she sat on the couch and put Adrienne and Leonore on her lap.

Harry did the same with Archie and Nicolas.

Victoria and her family appeared on the screen then Madeleine's parents and her brother and his family appeared afterwards.

"Happy Easter!"

The Swedish royal family celebrate Easter together like many families across the world - via a video call

A relatable scene.

During the holiday weekend, the Swedish royal family's official Instagram channel shared a video featuring its members having a good old catch up via a video call.

Tech savvy King Carl Gustaf, 73, and Queen Silvia of Sweden, 76 featured front and centre on the call, while their children Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, and their own children, eight-year-old Princess Estelle and four-year-old Prince Oscar were seen in a separate location looking excited to speak to their grandparents from afar.

The two young royals would no doubt have been thrilled to see their cousins as well, as Prince Carl-Philip and Princess Sofia joined in the call with their own children Prince Alexander and Prince Gabriel.

And another aunty Princess Madeleine was joined by husband Prince Harry and their children, six-year-old Princess Leonore, four-year-old Prince Nicolas, two-year-old Princess Adrienne, and eleven months old Prince Archie - and a family dog!

In the caption, the Swedish royal Palace explained more about the "digital Easter" catch up between the family.

Written in Swedish, the caption roughly translates to: "Easter celebrations look different in many places this year. There are many who are not given the opportunity to meet loved ones."

The statement confirmed that the family were following official guidelines to stay in isolation amid the Coronavirus pandemic, but that it was "possible to meet digitally to wish Happy Easter, which the Royal Family did earlier in the Easter week."

Fans were thrilled to see the insight from the Swedish royals, with many adding celebratory emojis to the comments section to show their support for the family leading by example.

They're also not the only royal family to embrace video calls in this time of lockdown and isolation.

Indeed the British royals also in laws have been right on board the virtual meeting train, with Prince William and Duchess Catherine leading the pack.

In the past week, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have partaken in several video calls that have been shared publicly, further endorsing some of their patronages and charities working hard to help people most affected by the pandemic.

In a sweet Easter video, the British royals were seen speaking to several school children whose parents are currently working on the frontline.

The pair spoke to them about how they were coping and what kinds of things they were doing at school, as well as thanking them, and their parents and teachers who continued to work tirelessly despite trying circumstances.

While the world adapts to a temporary new normal with social distancing, isolation and even lockdowns becoming common place, connecting with family and friends is more important than ever.

And the royals are certainly no exemption - relating to us like never before, it's refreshing to see them utilise these virtual tools in order to speak to loved ones.

When you see things like this, it really goes to show we're not all that different after all.

12th April 2020

Harry sighed. It was early morning. He smiled at the childern running around the house for the easter egg hunt.

"Daddy, where did you put the eggs?" Leonore asked as she held her basket.

"You have to go and find them, Leonore." Harry answered with a chuckle as Leonore pouted.

"Eggs!" Nicolas exclaimed as he found an egg.

"Looks like your brother is going to find all the eggs, Leonore." Madeleine said as she entered the room with Archie clinging onto her.

Leonore took off running to go look for the hidden eggs.

"Is Archie not participating?" Harry asked.

"He was then he gave up." Madeleine answered.

"Egg!" Adrienne squealed.

"Adrienne has the most eggs." Harry said.

"Of course, she would." Madeleine said.

Madeleine stood next to Harry and watched their three children look for the rest of the eggs that they had hidden late last night for the kids to find.

Twenty minutes or so had passed and the kids had found all the eggs. Everyone had finished up for lunch.

"Banana bread!" Harry exclaimed with excitement as he took his seat at the head of the table.

Madeleine smiled.

"Chocolate banana bread made especially for you." She said.

"Thank you, love." Harry said as he helped make a plate for the children.
