We were going somewhere.

Where? I didn't know exactly.

This was very much like Dylan, to pull something like this. Almost every Saturday went this way, with me being dragged around on one of his crazy adventures, half asleep.

I shouldn't lie, I sometimes enjoyed his crazy adventures. And maybe I could enjoy them every time if only he wouldn't drag me out of my warm bed to go on them.

"Okay, give me a hint, Dylan."

He rolled his eyes.

"We're going to a diner, Carmen." He let out.

"A diner?" I asked.

"Yes."

"Just, like, a normal diner?"

He took his eyes off the road for a second to give me a look.

"What? I just wanted to make sure."

"Yes, Carmen, a normal diner."

I squinted at him trying to figure him out. This doesn't really sound crazy or adventurous.

"Which diner are we going to again?"

"Mayford's Diner," he said casually.

My eyes widened. "Hell no."

"Oh, don't be so dramatic."

"Dylan, I'm not going to fucking Mayford's Diner. Especially not on a Saturday."

"Camie, please," he begged.

"Don't Camie me. Do you not know who hangs out at Mayford's Diner?"

"You make it sound like they're a couple of gangsters or something. "

I couldn't believe him.

Mayford's Diner was where our basketball team and their little friends hung out.

They're all a bunch of horny douche bags. All of them. Including Asher Williams.

I used to know and talk to him a lot, but a couple months ago we kind of cut off the friendship. If that's what you wanted to call it.

"They're horny, douchey teenaged boys. I think that's even worse."

He didn't say anything.

"Dylan, why are you taking me there?"

He ignored me.

"Dylan?"

"Because I was invited." He let out quickly.

My stomach dropped. "By who?"

"A guy named Kyle. His friend, Parker will be there too."

"Is this some kind of double date?"

"No, Camie, four good friends can't just hang out together?"

"I've never even met them."

"Well, you will today." He told me as he parked in a parking spot across from the diner.

I ran a hand through my hair as I stared at the diner solemnly.

"Carmen, trust me, it's not a double date. I don't think I can feel anything for any guy but you're brother."

I sighed and stepped out the car.

"You'll be fine," he gave me a kiss on the forehead.

The second we walked in a huge wave of heat hit my face. I could never get used to that.
