A/N- unfortunately we have reached the end of our story :( I am going to miss my favorite two, but this is where the story ends. Enjoy! Watty Awards! Has everyone voted & nominated me? -A/N

I lie in wait a few hundred yards from the Cornucopia, watching. Cato is making his way around to the other side, to trap anyone who comes that way. We have a foolproof plan, in my opinion. We spent the entire night huddling next to the fire, creating this plan. Cato will watch from the other side, and I'll wait here. We argued about who got to take out Katniss, since he was so determined to get her himself. We finally came to an agreement- I would get to kill Katniss since I didn't get Glimmer, but only if I give the audience a good show. Cato wants the Capitol to see how serious we are by taking out it's Girl On Fire slowly and painfully. I'm okay with it, I want her to suffer for making Cato and I lose sponsors. Cato will get anyone who comes by him, and I am to focus solely on Katniss. Before we split up to go our separate ways, we shared a long moment. We didn't kiss at first, just stood there, enjoying this time. Our arms wrapped around each other, him leaning down so our foreheads rested against each other. Finally, we kissed and then separated. Giving me a last, lingering look, he turned and ran off through the trees. Little did we know that this would be one of our last moments together.

The sun is almost completely up now, and there is no sign of any of the other tributes. I shift my weight on my legs, not daring to sit, since at any second I need to be ready to run. At that moment, I see a flash of red racing away from the Cornucopia. Where the heck did she come from? She definitely did not run into there from the woods, I would have seen her plus Cato would have been right behind her. She must have been hiding inside the Cornucopia, waiting for her moment to run. I see a large blur burst from the tree line and race after her. Cato, obviously. I have to be even more on top of my game now, since he won't be right there if I need him.

Right then, I see Katniss come flying out of the trees to my right, heading for her bag. I start to break from the trees towards her, but I stop. The way she's running, she'll round the Cornucopia and come straight for me, I just have to be ready. I run a few yards into the clearing, pausing. She comes around the corner, a small bag in her hand. Before she even has time to see me, I've launched a knife at her head. She barely misses having it lodged in her forehead, instead it grazes her head, blood dripping down her face. She hits the ground and rolls, drawing an arrow. She shoots just as I throw again, and I dodge it, a does she. I don't draw another knife, instead throwing myself into a full-force run. She regains her footing and is starting to run when I body slam into her, throwing us both to the ground. She struggles to get away, rolling over. I hit her a few times, before finding a good position. I am sitting atop her, with her on her back, my knees pinning her arms down. Well, that couldn't have been any easier, I don't know what the big deal is about her, she isn't very good at this. I glance around, and seeing no other tributes, decide I have enough time to give the audience a show.

"Where's your boyfriend, District Twelve? Still hanging on?" I taunt her. She is seething, "He's out there now, hunting Cato," she pauses, as then screams as loud as she can, "Peeta!" I punch her in the throat to get her to stop that infernal noise. I know there is no way Peeta is hunting Cato, since he went off after the ginger, but I still look around briefly, just to be sure. "Liar," I say with an evil grin, "He's nearly dead, Cato knows where he cut him. You've probably got him strapped up in a tree, trying to keep his heart going. What's in the pretty little backpack? That medicine for Lover Boy? Too bad he'll never get it." I open my jacket, showing off the wide selection of knives lining the interior. I take my time selecting one, finally deciding on a slender, curved blade, one of my favorite ones. "I promised Cato if he'd let me have you, I'd give the audience a good show." She's back to struggling now, jerking around, but it'a no use. I'm too strong for her weak little body, she can barely even move. I decide to taunt her some more, "Forget it, District Twelve. We're going to kill you. Just like we did your pathetic little ally...what was her name? Rue? Well, first Rue, then you, and then I think we'll just let nature take care of Lover Boy. How does that sound? Now, where to start?" I'm getting tired of prolonging this, I just want it over now, any longer and I run the risk of Thresh showing up. I take my sleeve and wipe the blood off her face so I can see where I want to cut first. I tilt her head back and forth, making her squirm, pondering where to make the first incision. She jerks her head, trying to bite my hand. I snatch her hair, yanking her head back to the ground. "I think we"ll start with your mouth," I say, staring at her face. She forces her mouth shut, unwilling to budge. I trace the line of her lips, and she states me down. She seems to think it is intimidating me, well, it isn't. "Yes, I don't think you'll have much use for your lips anymore. Want to blow Lover Boy one last kiss?" I say, getting ready to make the cut. She gives me a glare, and then spits a mixture of blood and spit into my face. I jerk back in disgust, wiping it off with my sleeve. "Alright then, let's get started," I say, placing the blade at the edge of her lip. Just as I press down, the tip piercing her flesh, something slams into me.

Thresh holds me a few feet in the air, against his brick wall frame. I forget about Katniss and start struggling I get out of his grip, but it's useless. He throws me to the ground and I instantly flip over and start crawling backwards, looking around for Cato. Thresh starts shouting, and I flinch. I only talked to him once at training, and he only said one word, no, do this is a complete shock. His deep voice starts yelling at me, "What did you do to that little girl? You kill her?" I crawl even faster, and he advanced towards me. "No! No! It wasn't me!" I insist. "You said her name. I heard you. You kill her?" He thinks of something and gets even more furious, "You cut her up like you were going to do to this girl here?" He leans down an scoops up a large rock, bigger than his already massive hand. Seeing the rock, I freak out, "Cato! Cato!" I scream at the top of my lungs, tears steaming down my face. "Clove!" I hear him call from a distance, and I know it's no use, he's too far away to help me. It's over for me.

I close my eyes just as the rock connects with the side of my head. I fall over, my vision blurring. Luckily for me, there is no pain, just an intensely numb throbbing.

I've no idea where Katniss or Thresh have gone, because the next thing I know, Cato is dropping to his knees next to me. He drops his spear and pulls my head into his lap. I can see his head looming over my own. I manage a moan, and he takes it as encouragement. "Clove! Clove you've got to stay with me! You have to stay with me! You're going to be okay! We're going to get you out of here! Don't leave me!" Cato is hysterical now, tears running down his face too. He scoops me up further into his lap, my head is now resting on his shoulder. I muster up a sentence, "You can't leave me, Cato," I whisper, taking a shallow breath. "I wont," he says, cradling me. "No, you can't," I can feel the life ebbing from me, and I know I only have a few minutes. "Cato, look at me," he does, "One of us has to go home, you have to win," I choke out. "No, we will win, you have to stay awake, don't close your eyes," Cato cries. "I love you Cato, you know that," I say, leaning into him. His tears are dripping into my face, and he is gently wiping them away. "No, Clove! You have to stay with me! Please! Don't leave me alone! I love you! You can't leave me!" I can hear him choking on his words, sobbing. My vision is almost completely gone now, and I am almost out, I can tell. I feel him press a soft kiss, damp with his salty tears, to my forehead. "Win for me, Cato," I breathe. And then it's over.

-A/N- *sniff, sniff* Leave me alone to cry. My heart just died a little. In some ways this was the hardest chapter to write, and the easiest. I am so sad this is over! I adored writing this!

Well, it's Watty Award time! So if you liked it at all- please VOTE! Nominated for best JawDrop.

I really want to know how everyone felt about this story! You guys took my little scribbles to over 10,000 reads and nearly 300 votes! Love y'all! -Jordy

PS- I've had people ask why there are 17 chapters before the arena and only 5 in the arena. It's because this was a backstory, not the whole thing. This was Cato & Clove, their history. The arena was all written in the actual Hunger Games. I did write a bit I the arena though, but not much, just enough to show how strong their bond was.
