At 21, you dropped out of UMass to be with your mom. She had just been diagnosed with breast cancer and it broke you. She was your rock, she was the one who had always been there for you. We had gotten so much closer since we were 19, you told me about your father and how he wasn't usually there. You told me how you weren't all that surprised when he left to have a family with another woman. You told me how your mom was the most influential person in your life. I missed you that whole year you were gone. I think that's when I realized I had truly fallen for you. When I went home for Christmas, you weren't yourself. You hardly slept, you were almost always at work, and you took care of your mom.
