Chapter 4: Memory Loss

“Please Axel, don’t do this” Chief pleaded, as I peered over the edge. “No way, this has to happen, it’s for the best” I told myself. “Axel, don’t!” He pleaded again stepping closer to me. I turned around to face him, hazel eyes meeting jagged green eyes.

“I’m sorry Chief,” I said, and jumped off of the edge.

“AXEL!” He screams out scrambling over to the edge. He holds out his hand as if he tried to grab me. “Axel!” He screams again.

Blood roared in my ears as the air whipped across my face. “No more pain Axel, it’s all gone” I said to myself reassuringly. I smiled slightly but I felt terrible inside. I had left Chief all alone in the Realm of the Pure. Now he has nobody to keep him company, nor does he have anyone to play with --- if he did that while I was mourning. How could I have done that to him.

What I said to Chief was completely ignorant! For goodness sake how am I not going to feel any pain? I’m going to hit the ground! “I’m going to die!” I whimpered closing my eyes. This day, marks the end of my life.

“Dude, are you okay?” An unfamiliar voice calls. “Um, are you dead?” The voice asks. “Great, he’s dead! Olivia, get out here!” The voice yells.

“What is it Eli?” A female voice groans.

“Livi, tell mommy that I just pulled this kid out of the river and he needs help.” The voice commanded.

“Oh my word!” A deeper female voice screams. “Move Elijah!”

I felt myself being set upright. What’s going on? How come I can’t open my eyes? Ouch! Something hit me, and its hitting me hard. Water filled my mouth --- how’d that even get in there --- and I spit it out, coughing and sputtering. “There we go, he’s alive!” The voice said proudly.

I opened up my eyes and looked around. “Where am I?” I groan, and spit out more water.

You’re in Jayda Town” A female voice said, and I gave her an awkward stare.

“What is Jayda town? And who are you?” I ask, the woman who had long brown hair and gray eyes.

“I’m Alma.” The woman said.

“I’m Olivia” The little girl behind her said. She had moderately long blonde hair with a big blue bow on, and a pair of gray eyes like Alma.

“I’m Elijah, but you’ll have to call me Eli” The male said. He had dark brown hair and olive green eyes. “What’s your name?”

I stared at the kid for a long while, “my. . .name” I stammer.

“Yes son, your name” the Alma spoke, and I gave her a confused look. “Don’t tell me you don’t know your name” she said placing her hands on her hips.

“Axel!” Another unfamiliar voice called. Who’s that? Is this Axel me? “I think my name is Axel” I said.

“Ah Axel, the name suites you.” She cooed making me confused again.

“Where are ya from Axel?” Olivia asked running up to me.

“I’m not sure,” I answer sadly. “I barely know who I am”

“How do you not know who you are, or where you’re from?” Olivia complained.

“I don’t know, I just don’t” I said sheepishly.

“I think you suffered memory loss Axel” Eli said.

“Memory loss?” I echo.

“Yeah, I mean you don’t remember anything and you barely know who you are so it has to be memory loss.” He explained.
