Backstory: Alex was a Prince of his homeland, and his family had a dragon egg as a sacred treasure, and it only hatches if the right person to be its rider is near. for 200 years they searched for the rider, looking in the royal bloodline they looked, till a bastard child walked into the egg chamber, and for the first time, the egg moved. when the egg hatched the dragon, like all babies, was curious and wanted to play, the king and egg keeper walked in and was furious at first that Alex was in the chamber but was replaced when they saw the egg hatched and the baby dragon was hiding behind Alex. Since then Alex was taught swordsmanship and how to ride a horse. Alex kept the baby Dragon close when not in lessons since she was his first actual friend, and by accident, his and Sagira's souls became one and he got the mark on his left hand. his training only got harder, after a week Sagira learned to fly and grew into a fully grown dragon and was able to talk to him via Telepathic connection that bound their souls, he learned that if he dies so does she, and if she dies he lives. so went to the treasure room and took the dragon slayer and got on Sagira and left knowing that his father wanted to turn them into a weapon against other kingdoms, he still loved his mother and little sister but he refused to be a weapon of genocide
