People say that you don't realise what you have until you lose it, but that's because you never thought that you could lose it. Everything you have is a blessing and it can be taken away at any time.
You didn't come to school that day. I didn't wonder why. The principal called an emergency assembly. I didn't wonder why.
The principal strode up to the podium, his bald pate gleaming with sweat as the sun beat down upon him.
"Good morning, students," he started in his usual monotonous voice, "I regret to inform you of a tragedy that occured late last night to one of our students."
"Laura Fields was involved in a car accident yesterday, and she did not make it."
A strangled cry escaped my throat.
