"What I meant by maniac was not like 5 kilometers more than
you drove before," I stated. He let out a loud laugh and said,
"Ok, you passed the test again," and he revved the engine and
took off like an actual maniac.
So far I was really enjoying myself. He was a guy who liked to
laugh, and lately I've found myself smiling, so it was a close enough
experience.
We got there about five minutes before the bell rang. Which was
just enough time for about everyone in our grade to see us walking
together. The way some of them stared at us was as if we were about to
get hit by a train. They had such a look of horror on their face you'd
swear they thought I was the devil. Some were confused, they didn't
even know who I was. And let's just say that there wasn't a short
number of girls who were jealous.
I stared sheepishly back at them as me and Alex walked side by
side through the parking lot. He waved to everyone with a huge smile
and his friends high fived him while checking me out.
I smiled and I tried to act friendly, just as a "good
girlfriend" should.
Some of them were cute, but Alex was cuter. I took a mental note
for later, in case Alex ended up dumping me for someone else.
As we headed for the front doors, I noticed the same faint
glowing from last night just on the inside of the doors. My
face went blank.
I quickly recomposed my smile and hung back more behind Alex.
