Fidgeting in the classroom,
lemon boy sits with his hands
in the pockets of his bright colored hoodie.
His anxiety is wearing thin
and he eats another piece of gummy candy,
trying all he can to stay calm
in the loud atmosphere.
His converse rub
against the patterned socks
as his leg shakes.
I smile when his eyes begin to soften,
staring back into mine.
My bittersweet lemon boy,
sitting next to me.
