~Chapter 4

~Cam’s POV

Derek leaned in closer to whisper just loud enough for me to hear, “If you don’t want that sexy girl over there finding out who you are and what you are not then you’ll come talk to me privately,” he said it so smugly that I wanted to kill the freak right then and there, I could care less what he thought of Katherine, but I did want to find out exactly what he know about me. So I complied.

I turned to Katherine and said, “I’ll be back in a bit okay?” and I brushed my lips against her cheek for half of a second before turning to Jake and telling him to let Kenny up off the ground where Jake had him pinned. Derek helped Kenny up off the ground and I started walking towards my dorm, when Calla blurted, “Wait! Cam! I’m coming with you!”

There was no way I was letting another freak find out the truth about me so I nearly screamed, “no you are not!”

“I can read their minds Cameron. I am coming with you, whether you like it or not.”

Crap, I forgot she could read their minds even if she can’t read mine. “Fine, just don’t say anything stupid,” I answered implying that I didn’t want her to tell Katherine anything to make her suspect the I’m not a freak too.

She nodded once in compliance, which was good enough for me.

Then, just like I’d guessed she would, Katherine asked, “Can I come?”

Calla just told her that she wouldn’t want to and followed me as I turned to head towards my dorm room, the two freaks and Calla close behind me. When we got well out of anyone’s hearing range I turned on my heel and glared at Derek.

We all stood there in an awkward silence until Calla broke it by blurting, “you’re not Talented?”

“No, he’s not,” Derek answered for me with a smug grin that I wanted to punch right off his face.

“Then why can’t I read your mind?” She asked me.

This time Kenny butted in, “that rock around his neck blocks out all mental Talents, really though it’s got a microchip in the back of it that screws with our brainwaves. It’s turned on by the clip in the back. Isn’t that right Cam?

Before I could answer Calla started, “Why are your eyes-” but she was quickly cut off by Derek again.

“Colored contacts.”

While partially listening to their conversation I decided to go ahead and off Kenny and Derek, making it look like they committed suicide, or like they were in a terrible accident. I couldn’t kill Calla, but I could feed her more lies and make her think I was tricked into doing this, make her think I’m the good guy. Or I could threaten her into not telling anyone anything. But if I’d killed her and them then no matter how good I made it look it would still be suspicious.

I turned to Derek, “you seem to be well informed. What else do you know?” I mused aloud.

“You’re the headmaster’s nephew,” Kenny answered automatically.

“You care nothing for the sexy doll we left in the dining hall,” Derek purrs. I could care less what he thinks, but to put on a good show for Calla so I can trick her later I punched him across the face, hopefully giving him a black eye to match the one he gave me last night.

“Liar!” I screamed when my fist made contact with his face.

Kenny saw the opportunity to try to take my necklace off. I ducked out of the way just before his hand clasped around the stone pendant. I pushed him to the ground and hit him in the face twice, “what’d you take from my room?!” I yelled.
