It lies not in our power to love or hate,
For will in us is overruled by fate.

When two are stripped, long ere the course begin,
We wish that one should love, the other win;

And one especially do we affect
Of two gold ingots, like in each respect:
The reason no man knows; let it suffice
What we behold is censured by our eyes.

Where both deliberate, the love is slight:
Who ever loved, that loved not at first sight?

~Christopher Marlowe

When two are stripped, long ere the course begin, we wish that one should love, the other win.

Dieu only knows how many times I've prayed for Edward to have the love he deserves. But now I see how wrong I was, it's my love for him that's going to lead to his winning, and that's all that matters now. One should love, the other win.

Edwards dark eyes looked tortured as he stared at me in disbelief from across the snow covered field, the snow was starting to stick in his hair...and it was sticking to the shoulders of my cloak. Bella was defensively tucked into his side, her eyes nothing but hateful as she glared at me, and I could see the child peeking out from between her parents arms.

"Marlowe." Aro addressed me, not using my pet name for once, and I stepped forward. "Is there anything you would like to say to the Cullens before we begin?" He asked me.

"Yes." I nodded, turning back to face my family, possibly for the last time. "I'm so sorry."
