ALEX'S POV:

We all sat outside near a lake, in our track suits learning about Greece.

God, it was so boring. Paying attention was never really my strongest suit.

I sat in between Guy and Adam on a log.

"Ancient Greece was the beginning of Western Civilization. See, in Greece, they didn't have professional sports...or Wheaties boxes. So the athletes competed for another reason." Ms. MacKay asked.

"Anybody?" She asked.

"Falafels?" Goldberg suggested.

"You wish, Goldberg" someone said and everyone laughed.

"Charlie?" Ms.MacKay said.

"Pride," he said.

"That's right. The various city-states waved their flags and wore their home colors proudly," She smiled.

"Did America always dominate?" Fulton asked.

"Fulton" someone else said. We all laughed.

"It's a good question!" Dean defended him.

I thought it was cute, the enforcers stick together.

"No, America wasn't around back then," Ms.MacKay said.

"It's okay," I said to Fulton.

"Don't forget that compared to other countries. America is still young, still forming its own identity. A teenager. Just like you." MacKay said.

"Like us?" Jesse said furrowing his eyebrows.

"You bet. A little awkward at time, but always on the verge of greatness." MacKay said.

We were practicing in a park but this time we were in roller blades, chanting.

"I don't know what I been told!" Coach chanted.

"I don't know what I been told!" We said.

"Team USA is gonna win the gold!"

"Team USA is gonna win the gold!"

"Sound off!"

"One, two."

"Sound off!"

"Three, four."

"Bring'em on down"

"One, two, three, four"

I started to slow down a bit, I started thinking about my mom and dad, wondering how they are doing. It's only been 2 days but I still miss them and my baby sisters are suppose to be born soon and I'm worried I'll miss it.

"Hey, you okay?" I heard someone say. I look to my left and it's Adam.

"Yeah just thinking about my parents," I said. I don't know why I told him that, usually I'll be like "Just thinking" then skate away but i don't know why but I feel comfortable with Adam, like I can tell him anything.

"You ready for the game tomorrow?" he asked with a smile.

"Yeah, I'm excited. I always enjoy stepping on the ice, its like me against the world, ya know?," I said looking at him.
