Chapter Seven

Sweetheart

After an hour, I finally made my way inside Reyes’ Inc., waving a hello to Lindy.

“He’s called me twice already to ask if you’ve shown up yet and he sounded extremely mad. Good luck today!” Lindy yelled to me just as the elevator doors closed.

Oh great! First I had to deal with Jon first thing in the morning and now I have to face a hung over boss. I was three hours late. After leaving Jon’s place, I went over to my apartment and quickly took a shower. Then I ate three pop tarts and drank cold chocolate milk and swallowed two Advils with it to help my headache.

As the elevator dinged I walked over to Christian’s office and knocked twice.

I heard his voice yell from inside, “That better be you Valerie!”

I made my way inside and smiled sheepishly at him. “G-Good morning—err afternoon boss?” I said, but it came out as a question. He was wearing a mouthwatering, tight white shirt that was slightly see-through and a plain black tie.

“Have a seat won’t you Valerie.” He said, suddenly smiling, the tone of his voice was soft.

I sat down looking at him the whole time, believing his nice act when he locked his sea blue eyes with my green ones.

“Would you like some coffee?” He asked, still smiling.

Okay, I’m nervous now. Why was he smiling so much? Why was he talking so nicely? Why do I believe all this? Why haven’t I answered his question yet?

Shaking my head to clear my mind, I said a quick, “No thanks,” to my boss.

He suddenly gave me a blank look. Then I noticed the rage in his eyes. I braced myself for the impact. “GOOD, BECAUSE YOU WON’T HAVE TIME TO DRINK IT WHILE I YELL AT YOU!” He got up from his chair, glaring at me.

“Speaking of time, do you have any idea how late you are Miss Summers? Three hours! YOU ARE THREE DAMN HOURS LATE!” He started to now pace back and forth across his room.

“I had a very important meeting that I had to attend today and because of you I missed it! Do you have any idea how much money I lost, Valerie?” He stood in front of me, giving me a cold glare.
