Fleeting Things

She's been spending her time
wilting in a dark room, lately.
The divorce did that to her.
She says
she keeps the curtains drawn
to block out the daylight,
because like him, daylight is temporary.
It promises forever with golden intensity
Yet still, every day it fades,
flakes away into nothingness until she is left alone in the great empty.
So she's been wilting in a dark room lately,
because the one who left her
made her wary of all things as fleeting as love;
even the sun in the sky.
