A/N: To the readers, this is my second Smackdown entry! This time it was a Classic/Trashic round, in which the contestants must choose one Classic book (from a list of five) and combine some plot and characters with the trashic, chosen also from a list of five. I chose The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (Classic) and combined it with Twilight (Trashic). The final catch? It's gotta be Science Fiction.

It's a SciFi contest, remember?

So, see the afterword...

“Bye, Bella!”

“See ya, Isabella!”

“Have fun!”

I smiled and gave a little wave to the small cluster of friends that had come to the teleport to wish me good-bye. “I'll see you all again, guys,” I told them, then turned towards the oddly-shaped teleporter. I always loved riding in the box-like contraption, but today it was a little bit more of a sad occasion than when I normally use it.

Teleporter tickets cost lots of money, so I knew that all my friends – who were about to watch me disappear into a box like a magician – had likely never experienced the tingling sensation that came with an other-worldly ride known as teleportation. I had a bit of a privilege, though, seeing as my divorced father was the head inventor that masterminded the world-changing creation.

“Give your mother a hug, honey.” I turned around, smiling sadly as I gave my mother a hug, then watched as she retreated a few steps away to stand beside her new husband.

That was the reason for my trip – my mother and stepfather were going on a missionary trip straight into the techno-wars, and I was going to give them some alone time. Solution? Go stay with my father in England, far away from the devastating war.

A beep from the teleporter caught my attention and I stopped giving hugs and waves. The sound signified that it had fully charged, and was ready to take me on a trip. I deposited my tele-ticket into a garbage can and stepped in, the metal door clicking shut.

“Bella, we'll miss you!”

“Bye!

“See you again sometime soon!” I could barely make out the voices of the people outside the teleporter, as it had starting beeping and whirring. “Don't forget to-”

And then it was gone. The world spun once, twice, then there was darkness.

My skin suddenly felt tingly, as if I was being shocked by electricity, but in a soothing way, and I felt myself disappear. I would be unconscious for a few seconds.

“Bella! Bella!”

I slowly opened my eyes, savouring the thrill of the teleport, then sliding open the metal door. Instead of the group of friends that had been there moments ago, there were only two people – one familiar, the other not.

“Dad!” I exclaimed, jumping into his arms. He smiled his ever-eccentric smile and returned the hug, then introducing me to the teenage boy standing beside him.

“Bella, this is Edward. Edward, Bella.” I shook his hand formally, and he smiled a radiant smile which I returned.

“Hi,” I said shyly.

“Hello, Bella.” His voice was smooth, silky, and I was instantly drawn to it, like techmoths to a holo-light.

"Edward is my assistant. He's been helping me out with... Some things," my father said vaguely. I was curious, but didn't want to pry. He liked his privacy.
