I inhaled a sudden breath, grasping softness between my fingers. I opened my eyes to see that I was clutching a blanket thrown on top of me. I looked around and noticed I was on the couch, the bright morning light of the backyard blinding me. Brenda was rushing by the back of the couch when she saw me sit up.
"Lynz, you start school in fifteen minutes! Hurry up, get ready."
"I don't remember getting here. Did I sleep walk?"
"You don't sleep walk. And last I knew, you were outside. You stayed out there for a pretty long time, where did you go?"
"I don't know...I don't remember much." I felt a slight weight on my thighs, finding a non-fiction teenage book. I don't remember reading that... "Did you get this for me?"
"No, I thought you got it. I don't have enough time to talk, good luck at school today." Brenda was out the door. I rolled my eyes and got up to get dressed for the first day of school in Oregon.
