“Dinner then?” Sherlock asked John. “I know a place on-”
“Ah, no. Sorry Sherlock. I’m going to meet Harry.” It wasn’t a lie. John had thought it through – trying to deceive Sherlock would be a task. Having a real place to go would mean that Sherlock would pick up on all those small details that John couldn’t replicate.
Sherlock frowned as John left.  That was the third time that John had ‘fobbed him off’, so to speak, and Sherlock was getting… curious. Not worried. Sherlock couldn’t feel worried. That was a human emotion, wasn’t it? He knew for a fact – from John’s right hand – that the Watson siblings weren’t making up – John still disliked his sister’s presence. Then why purposely go out of his way to visit her? Because Sherlock also knew that it was John who had wanted to see her and not the other way round. But why would John go to such lengths to avoid spending time with him? He wasn’t…getting bored of him, was he? Sherlock liked John. They were ‘friends’. But people were such changeable people – maybe John was sick of him. Sherlock frowned. What could he do?
So of course, he did the most Sherlock thing he could – he confronted him.
