Chapter 3

Maia was beginning to get tired of the old bridge, and decided that it was time to move on. She stuffed her belongings in to her black leather backpack, and started walking to the bus stop in front of the Sunset Snack Shop.

"May as well buy some food incase I run out." Maia said to herself.

When she arrived at the sunset snack shop, she pushed the glass

doors open, and a cool breeze blew over the top of her matted hair. Maia turned left into the fruit and vegetable section and then a right into the snack and chip aisle. She grabbed two bags of her favorite BBQ potato chips and decided to try a bag of lemon lime potato chips. She turned the corner and took one box of peanut butter granola bars, and three bottles of Mountain View water. When Maia got to the cashier, she took a plastic zip-lock bag out of her worn out pocket, with five hundred dollars worth of five dollar bills that she found in a drawer with her name written on it after her mother left. Maia handed one of the fives to the cashier.
